Did this bike actually make it to production and sell anywhere?

I don't see anything about it on the Honda Canada website.

I don't actually want one, but I want to look into sourcing the wheels from one for my CB550 project.  I think they would look just dandy if the size is right:

How many more broken hearts will it take for this golden nugget to find its way out of Japan? Compliance and export are expensive and, while the CB1100 retails for one million yen in Japan, it would be likely to fetch more than $10,000 if it were ever brought stateside. Getting buyers to fork out that kind of money for a neo-retro, however, may be very difficult. The CB1100’s only hope for wider market distribution would require enough potential buyers to justify production. Sadly, we don’t see that happening anytime soon, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed.

Actually we get a lot of models that you guys don't get and we miss out on most of the semi cruiser {crap} bikes that you guys get, we still get the Harley look alike bikes but not many of the inline 4 type cruisers and the like...

I think you're dating yourself there a bit, man.  I4 cruisers were kind of a product of the 70's-80's and I'm pretty sure they were gone by the 90's.

Sorry, I meant to add a little winky or something to that post, I didn't mean to be rude. :)  I miss those old I4 cruiser bikes.  I would never want one for myself, but I do love the sound of an I4, and some of those old bikes did look pretty mean.

I'm in Canada, and we get some machines here that our neighbors to the south miss out on, but there are some bikes from markets like yours that we all lust after!

Thanks to all for the info on the CB1100.  Those tires are FRONT 110/80 18-inch, REAR 140/70 18-inch.  Would look exactly right on a lot of our older CB's...

Thanks 754.  I am in Canada, I'll update my profile info.

The 550 has laced wheels on it now and I got a set of comstars like the Nighthawk had with the bike.  I don't want comstars on the 550, but I like the wheels on the new CB1100 because they look just a bit like comstars so they look at home on the bike, but they're nice and modern-looking, sleeker than the stamped wheels.

I have a bit of a love-hate thing with comstars - I have seen a few bikes with them that looked good, but I usually don't care for them.  However, they're such a part of the Honda brand from that period that I kind of like wheels that are somehow evocative of that look.

For my project, my preference is:

First choice: Astralites.  Yours would do nicely. ;)
Second choice: CB1100 wheels.
Third choice: Fresh laced wheels.

Rear will be converted to disc regardless.  I prefer a single rotor up front but would do dual for the CB1100 setup because I think that wheel would look bad with a missing rotor.

Yes, Honda sucks for not offering us this bike.  But we are getting the CBR1100 ( I think that's what it's called).  And THEN they turn around and spend all this money engineering this two-seater hybrid CRX replacement, the CR-Z.  Damn thing is is over $25k too.   As of right now, hybrid crap is so full of bologna.  Ten to fifteen percent better fuel economy for the same difference in price?  Gimme a break.  I'll just ride my motorsickle.

They are being phased out world wide i think, if there is any more production on 2 strokes i would say it would be left to 3rd world countries like India....They were definitely exciting bikes to ride..... ;D

FYI, I did get a quote for 2 wheel assemblies - including front and rear wheels, all 3 rotors, bearings, spacers, axles, and cush drive (but not sprocket).  Almost 2800 AUD.  Wow.  Dunno if that includes taxes, definitely doesn't include shipping to Canada.

What's funny is, I always loved the looks of the CB seven-fifty non-USA markets got..  Kinda a CB750 Nighthawk (USA market) on steroids- better looking, triple-disk brakes, etc.

I lusted after one bigtime, but I hear in the places that could get them, they were regarded as just courier bikes or something!  :-(

If the cush drive and rotors from another bike available in the US would fit those wheels, it would almost make sense (assuming I could score that stuff used or aftermarket).

It's a shame, I really want those wheels!

what is the Australian Price for the CB1100? I am just thinking ahead.  I can but a 2010 CB1100 in 2045.
