POSH shocks???
« on: November 29, 2010, 04:53:59 PM »
Well,
They seem to be called POSH Racing shocks. No info on the web. Not much at least. I don't like the way he/she has displayed the info about the eye/clevis measurements and I can't decide if they'll fit a 74 CB750 with what he ships.

Seems like he sold the first shocks real cheap and upped the price gradually.

What do you think?

There's no way your gonna walkaway with some decent reservoir shocks without a pocketful of Benji's. Unfortunately looks too good to be true and more Chinese CRAP. Here's some chatter about them:

These are Chinese built pieces and should not be confused with any of the expensive and beautiful pieces that come out of POSH Japan.
This project started in confusion and will end in disarray.

They don't look so pretty to me:

All that chewed up chrome and other shiny metal surfaces.

Chinese junk . . . and I'm not talking about a masted sailing ship.

Long thread on these on the GSResources site. Couple of the guys played with them in the flesh and concluded they are indeed junk.

I bought a set of the shocks that look identical to the ones pictured but are called RFY  (part number on the box is QR-2A-330) when we were visiting China. I paid about $22 for them in Shanghai (175 yuan) at a scooter shop. There were a lot of scooters there on the streets, and some were tricked out with those shocks....some looked like they had a bunch of miles on them and were still functional. (everybody commutes there on scooters) So the durability is OK....the spring rate/damping may not be what you need for a bigger bike, but for heavy scooters they seemed OK (just bouncing up/down)  I bought them for my CT-70, but I don't see a problem running them on a light bike, or re-spring them for a heavier one...can't be worse than the soft stockers :) They are a bit longer than stock (in china you could buy them in different length from 315mm to 330mm, plus there is a bit of length adjustment)

Yeah, the auction link I posted was for ones with "RFY" on them.  I noticed most of the sites saying they are weak are putting them on heavy bikes, and like you said they're made for scooters and lighter bikes.  Would they be under-sprung for use on a CB500 or would that still be too heavy?

I would think that they would be undersprung, but i have not tried them yet on any of my bigger Hondas. They look like they would accept a stock spring though....
