My journey to having a 750 sohc4
« on: December 05, 2010, 07:25:41 AM »
In my own case I hadn't owned a Honda since the late 70's and that last bike was a 1976 CB550. I got married in 1980 and well you know the story making a living, raising a family, etc. it never enter my mind about ever getting another Honda until last November some 30 years later when I saw a mailer about a auction sale and the one item that caught my eye that was going to be auctioned off was a CB750. I didn't get that bike but what it did was light the excitement back inside of me that I had about these bikes back in the 70's. I knew somehow, somewhere I had to get another one of these fine bikes. It was 30 ago, but I remember what a fun bike the 550 was and I had never had a 750 so I knew what I had to have, the badest bike of it's day and I wouldn't rest until I had one in my garage. So the hunt was on. I knew I wanted a rider one that was road ready pretty much just the way it sat if that's possible with a 35 year old bike because I wanted to go riding soon not months or maybe years later and I knew that would be the case if I got a project bike, and it had to be in stock trim or close to it (I'm a stocker fan). I found out soon it wasn't going to be that easy. Sticker shock I couldn't believe the big $$$ the sellers on ebay and CL were wanting for there road ready 750's. Also I'm very caution about buying high $$ item's sight unseen, this was causing a problem because most of the 750's I was considering were in other states or even other countries. It got to the point were my dream of having a 750 I thought might not happen. I didn't give up and to make a longer story shorter I did fine my dream bike a 1976 candy antares red 750 road ready needed very little, near stock and 40 miles from my home ;D ;D What's your story?

Cool, welcome to the "baby boomer" generation who are reliving our teen years. ;D
Reminds me of one of the local bike clubs here slogans "growing old disgracefully"! :D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!
