New Member and Project from Istanbul
« on: December 11, 2010, 06:51:26 AM »
Hi,
Greetings from Istanbul. I am 43 years old motorcycling enthusiast. I started to restoring bikes at high school and I restored one Triumph and one Sunbeam. I felt that they are more like an collecting object than a daily riding bike. Later I restored  one BMW R25-3 and a R67-2 with a side car .Those were old gendarme troops bikes and both of them was very tired.
I sold the bikes to the collectors where they belong.
Last year I rebuilt one 1998 Harley FLSTS with complete reworked head, an agresive cam for low/mid range power and I am very happy with the results . It is my daily ride now.
I always wanted to restore an Japanese bike and I always like the beauty of the CB series.
This week I bought one CB750 and as far as I know it is a K7 with engine numbers stars with CBE27..... Most of the bikes in my town are either scrapped or ruined in curious hands without any knowledge. I found the bike in the south border ,2 hours of flight. The owner says he is the second owner and he only changed the colour from black to his taste of blue I guess.
I tested the bike and believed they never touched the engine .Smooth gear shifts. Carbs needs attention.I think it is a good buy at the final tag of $1650 ? . I like the looks of the cafe racers at the moment  but this forum is very informative and I need to read as much as possible before I start the building process. I am glad that I found here.
Here is the pics of the bike today

I 've never seen a bike without scratches on the right side in here

I hope to find a new odometer

Welcome.  Your resume is impressive-you should have no trouble with a CB as they are very easy to work on.  Sochiro designed much of his bikes with the mechanic in mind.  1650 would be a bit high here(near Philly, PA) but it is all relative, seems like the supply is lacking in your country so the price could be higher.  All that silver paint looks like an effort to mask some serious rust, you should be able to get many of the items you need from this site or Ebay euro.  Have fun, Larry

Welcome to our site. We look forward to working with you. The bike looks nice and I would say that if those were US$ then that would be a fair price here. Parts shouldn't be a problem but may be a challenge in Turkey. Here in the US we just have to be patient and have a credit card ha ha. Closer to you in Europe you always have David Silver Spares and CMSNL.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)
