Hi there,


I wanted to have a  better rear drum braking system, possible 2LS but I have a couple questions about fitting the yamaha front drums. Since there were lots of info in this topic, I didn't want to start a new one.

1- the rear axle; CB750 axle is larger and possibly longer than the yamaha one. How can we solve this issue? would it be safe to mod the yamaha hub?

2- Are there any other mods necessary like on the cover plate or links, cable?

Will this hub and drum work for the rear? I know the axle diameter is smaller than stock cb750 what is the correct way to swap this wheel with the stock rear?

ps: I am planning to get a WM5 shouldered excels and SS spokes don by Buchannans

How do you plan on making a sprocket work with a front hub..?  The 750 drum is adequate for the bike on the street, no need for an upgrade.....

I will get the engine modified in a couple months, possibly an 836 APE kit, alongside with cr29s and cr750 replica exhausts. So, it will be faster and I like to ride it fast too... It would make me feel more comfortable to have a more powerful drum braking system... I like the look of the bigger hubs also.

As for the sprocket, I was thinking of getting a custom plate or using another bikes plate to work it out.

Whilst i understand what you are saying i have to disagree, the front is the area that needs work on these bikes, the rear is adequate as it is, I've owned piles of the 750's with Hipo engines and if you are using your brakes correctly {20%rear, 80 %front} then you should have no problems with the rear brake, if you must upgrade it use a disc brake rear wheel of an F0-F1 cb750....You really don't need power on a rear brake, you need "feel"....Too much rear brake will bite you on the arse....

I have over 70,000 miles on my K3............the rear shoes are original and only about half gone.

I purchased a GL1000 front end the discs are drilled and surface grinded/polished. Braided lines and ferodo pads will be on the calipers.

Even though I am not super knowledgeable about the drums, I have a feeling that it's not working properly. I have to do a complete A to Z check-out but I just wanted to boost the braking power. I might send the drums to VintageBrakes.com  shop if I can't figure it out myself.

Up here when winter riding its 93%rear and 7% front... Gets real scary on ice and snow..

I did not ride this past winter but rode the 3 before that.. On a CB750...missed about 40 days out of 3 winters.. I might add..I rode very carefully..and very upright.. A lot of the time....it got pretty ugly a few times..ruined the bike too..
