9 Time Isle of Man TT winning bike ridden to victory by Steve Mcqueen and AJ Foyt....worth $20,000.

Offer $800.00

Craigslist basket..... worth $200.00

Offer $500.00

Somewhere in Southern California, a light is shining down on a dusty garage with a leather clad Englishman inside........... building a bike or two.

Just my final 2 cents worth, here as the thread has become a play ground for the immature.

There is this rationale that by suggesting to an ill-informed seller that they have undervalued their property you are actually taking the opportunity of a prize find away from someone else. That someone else would likely be a value shopper that you have never met before. Therefore a total stranger to (King) you, but in having the conversation in person, email or by phone, King had developed a relationship with the seller. What kind of person would you be if you didn’t inform this new acquaintance (friend) of their error?  Are you a better human being for having informed them and helped someone you now know or walk away so some other schmuck gets a steel of a deal?

Think about this fellas!

No!
You're not a Schmuck for looking for good deals, but if you walked away from an acquaintance and didn’t give greater consideration to them over a complete stranger, then there are lots of titles I would attach to you.

I apologize to anyone I offended here, it was a Saturday night and I had a couple beers in me....

I came here to learn not fight.

So, what would be the best oil to use in this bike? :D

If this was so false from the get go, and it's worthless, why is everybody reading it and posting to this thread all the time?
Does it really make you feel better about yourself when you cut people down online? Stop being cyber bullies! It will eventually be a crime when enough sorry a$$ depressed kid kills themselves because their parents pay no attention to them.

Maybe if we put as much effort into helping other people (with advice like king provided...put on ebay to get market value) as we do to make ourselves look better, or someone else look bad, the world might not be as fu@#ed up as it is.

The bike is clearly worth more than 200. I would think it would bring closer to 1500 with all the bodywork if the condition is good. I really don't know...I am not an appraiser. If I wanted that bike and it was on ebay and I had some spare cash....1500 pops into my mind.

To keep this fun...

The seller was no acquaintance, but a total stranger that showed an image of  complete bike that was in a fact a basket. Doesn't get any stranger than that.

If King didn't know it was a basket any sooner than we did, then she owes him an apology.

Well it's a cb and pretty easy (for some of us) to get running if the motor turns and has compression. As far as bodywork, it gets pricey. Even more so when you try to source brackets to mount it. Then add paint on top of it. To some who don't have time or don't want to deal with fabbing their own brackets and what not, it is worth 800 for the body work alone if it is bolt on and needs no paint.

When did it become a basket case?

not really tango. you just cant admit king messed up. its clear there was no bike that resembled the pic king posted, as it turns out justme posts a pic of accessories off the supposed bike and a pic of a newspaper and a computer screen. no evidence at all. king now went away all quiet, which is good because people do forget. so before you and samcb start calling names look at the facts, I said nothing false and dont deserve the name calling. on that note all has been said and now I lay it to rest walking away with having set the record straight.

The more I think about it the madder I get.

There is a consensus among the vocals here that a potential purchaser’s right to a great deal outweigh the sellers right to fair market value. Keep in mind that although (previously)a non active SOHC4 site member, our lady friend (justme361) is a member of the overall SOHC community. She may not have acquired the bike in the same way the rest of us did, but her concern from the beginning was that the bike find an owner that would appreciate it
.
Some of you might remember a certain Café bike selling on ebay for a huge profit realized by an opportunistic trend surfer and not the SOHC4 member that poured hard earned cash, sweat and creativity into it.  http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=79227.50

Is that the type of buyer we want to endorse or do we care for our SOHC community members first?

Lets put the conspiracy theories behind us and offer some constructive comments and advise.

If nothing else, this forum has exposed the character of our family members better than the typical holiday family reunion.

Happy Holidays
