seems like if you were selling a gem like that you might want to borrow a digital camera and post some decent pics

If I understand King's first post, they had it listed for $200! They obviously did not know what they had!!

They still don't know what have because its a parts bin special, its just a 500 with a few bits added on to suit the owners vision, now its probably going to have an over inflated price due to the wrong information being given.

its only over inflated if it don't sell, and its only worth what someone will give. it may be worth a lot to the right person.

I know a guy that says he has marbles that are worth hundreds, I think he has lost any that are worth anything ::)

why the hell would you tell them to list it for more?  what's wrong with you?  I would have bought that in an instant.  Yeah, I can understand why you wouldn't want an amazing deal.  I hate those. I try to buy everything at the most expensive price everywhere too.  If there is a sale on something I usually tell them to bring it back to regular price or I won't buy it.

There is getting a deal, and there is knowingly cheating people.  All relative I guess.  I just go with what my prayer life tells me.  I guess that is rare indeed these days.

You have my appreciation on treating people fairly.

Far too many these days wouldn't care who they hurt to get what they want, like they were all fighting for the same scrap of food.

I am sure we won't always agree but you did the right thing and I only hope someone will help me as I would help them when I am able.

Even if it is only worth $1000-$1500 is is still a big gain of $$

I had a elderly lady call a Friend and ask him/us to come and look at this old car in her garage, her husband who has been gone many years, "bought it new and loved that old car" she said and maybe we would be interested in buying it as she was moving and it had to go.

We get to her house and in the outside bay of her 2 car garage, covered with blankets and boxes was a 1968 Mustang 4 speed BB Shelby with 10,000 miles, it had not been moved or started in 20 years. "It can't be worth much she said we only gave like 5000 for it new"

we just covered it back up and told her to call an auction house or an appraiser, and by the way it's worth at least 10X's that.

my logic is that if the person is happy with getting $200 for it, and it would make you happy to purchase it for $200, it is a win win for everyone.  obviously they didnt' care about it that much if they didn't even know what it was or what it was worth.  And if I could have gotten something for an awesome price (and normally couldn't afford said item) then that would be perfect.  Value is all based in the eye of the person who owns it.  I have a 1996 honda accord that is worth about 5 grand, but I wouldn't sell it for 20,000. Not worth much but worth a whole lot to me :)

It will be interesting to watch if they post it on Ebay. If anyone sees their listing please send out a heads up.

King,  you did the right thing as did raef.   I had a customer that bought a Hasselblad camera at a yard sale that belonged to the elderly ladies deceased husband.  He paid $15 for a camera worth at least 1500 at the time.  He was ecstatic, I was flabbergasted that someone could take advantage of another like that. I went to a yard sale were a young girl was selling her father's Nikon cameras that were worth at least a grand for 100. I declined and told her the real value.  I believe those are moments that build character.   Larry

+1. Well said Larry.

Isn't this just like the "Wall street attitude" where making a profit off others is the primary goal, without a care for those that lose, whether realized or not?

Having said that, it IS basic human nature to take advantage of those less fortunate or less informed than yourself.  Welcome to the Human race.

I like to think that we humans can develop an intellect that overcomes the baser instincts.  The baser instincts are what has/does retard societal advancement.

I'll bet if it was screwed with that KKC would have bought it on a whim but seeing though you weren't going to use it, you had no interest in it you screwed it for everyone else, prayer life, what a crock of #$%*...
In these days where we get screwed at every turn by retailers, big business and the government it is refreshing to know that you can still get a bargain.......until someone screws it for everyone.....Knowingly cheating someone is your take on it not everyone elses, its refreshing to know that you think most of us are cheats, just for getting a bargain..... ::)

So what..!!   In case you haven't noticed this is a forum for restoring or appreciating old SOHC Honda's and there are tons of guys here that are looking for a bargain as these bikes become increasingly rare, in KKC's point of view we are all Cheats for being lucky enough to buy cheap parts and that IS a crock of #$%*, like it or not. You do gooders keep going through your auctions doing this and you won't make many friends here. Another point, KKC builds bobbers and i am sure as hell that, when it suits him he buys "cheap" bikes, look around and you will always find someone willing to pay more for any thing being sold, if they want it bad enough. This is like making an offer on a car or bike and turning up to buy it only to find out someone else turned up and offered more money....
The comparison to the old lady with the Shelby has no relevance here, they are worth 250,000 plus.....

23 posts eh, explain that last snipe smart arse..!! I do buy and sell, i'm just not trying to gain browny points buy trying to be a friggin saint. Get all the facts before giving you over inflated opinion mate...KKC didn't even know what the  bike was, just assumed it was something unique and blew it for everyone else, now the guys that have it think they have some rare Honda of which it isn't....
Try and educate yourself about these bikes before jumping in and giving uninformed stupid opinions completely unrelated to the bike in question.....What do you know about it mate..?

You don't even make sense, 23 posts makes you a noob and you know nothing about anyone here, hang around long enough you may even learn something... ::)
You have posted no relevant info on anything here yet so what  do you know. I have stated that the bike is no special "imola" build, there is no such thing, you wouldn't know this you so you start to insult me and then #$%* when i call you out. You offered nothing in your post but an insult and now you get upset, grow a brain . Got anything relevant to add....
