So...Justme, getting back to basics..What's it worth?  Obviously more than $200, and as far as the guys wife looking at it like it's junk, well, my wife thinks all my stuff is junk  :D not an unusual ploy to try to get the seller to come down off the (already low) price a bit, don't let it worry you. Typically a bike without a title is only worth 1/4-1/2 the value of the same bike WITH a title, so if you can get one I'd encourage you to do so. Probably worth a couple grand, maybe more, titled and running, and it might not take much to get it running, there are probably folks in your area who would actually help you with it instead of just giving opinions. Might be worth a grand+ to the right person titled but not running, maybe even a grand to the right person, no title and not running, kinda depends on how long you want to wait for that person and how bad you want it out of the garage. The 5-10 grand thing would be for a bike with proof that the engine and frame were, in fact, race equipment, possibly 20-40 if it was race ready. I am curious, have you checked the VIN or engine numbers to see if it is something special? The ebay guys are right, you could probably get a lot more if you wanted to take the time to part it out, title or not, but it does take more time and effort and it would seem a shame to take it apart. If you do sell it whole on ebay, I'd encourage you to be very forthright about it's current condition and do some more research on it..if someone buys it expecting a racer and it's just another honda with some goodies on it, you might get some negative feedback. I do wish you the best with it, I think it is a very cool looking bike, I think your intentions were good to begin with and I'm sorry your experience here turned out this way, as someone else mentioned, we haven't had such an "exciting" thread in quite a while.
thanks for the info.  How would i go about finding info about the vin and engine numbers?  I cant find any web site helpful to bikes that are older than 1980 or so.

It appears you and King are speaking regulary ( your in here sticking up for him) why didnt you ask him where the Vin was, why do you ask the forum for help when you have King?? And I thought you were deleting your account? In your words (so anyways yall find something else to blab about), why are you still here?

"oh and the no title thing will scare tons of people off since in some states, no title = never registered again... others like cali, no title means a trip to the dmv, and $75..."

If the bike was originally sold here yes.  The problem comes from the fact that the bike was originally sold in Italy.  Even CA would make you prove legal ownership and it might have to get emission checked.  Part it out.  You could get $500+ just for the wheels.  Another $600+ for the bodywork and fairing.  The frame, motor, and cycle parts have value as well.  As I said earlier with no title and questionable origin if you want cash for Christmas bust out the tools and get those wheels and the bodywork on ebay stat.

There is no one else, there are too many loop holes here. Unfortunately for King it got out of control. But the Jig is up, stop digging the hole deeper.

"i have the numbers. im just wondering if there is a site that i can give the numbers and they will give me any info on the bike. like car fax does."

No.  You would need to take the numbers to the DMV and have them check them out to see who the last known owner was.  That will only work if the bike was registered in the state of Texas.  If it was registered in another state then you need to contact that DMV.  If it was never registered in the U.S., refer to my earlier posts.

I would say if you could write SOHC and today's date on a piece of cardboard and prop it up on the bike in a current picture that would pretty much stop most of the conspiracy theory's. Just a thought-now where's my bag of popcorn  ;D    EDIT-Yep put the paper there too-  JESH some people sure get riled up--------------- ::)

a guy on craigslist came to look at it. said he wanted it on the phone, but when he came out he said it was the wrong part. but my hubby said his wife was nagging him the whole time he was looking at it.

in cali it doesnt matter where it came from as long as its out of the system (7 years) and you have a bill of sale. bring it to the chp, they check the #'s to make sure it wasnt stolen or used in a crime, go to dmv, and at worst you might have to do a lien sale, otherwise its the title fee and go. went through this with a euro husqavarna a few years back.simple. other states im sure you will have more trouble. and if its older than 76, no emissions bs.

Smiling, please stop me Lord....ooops, here goes.  The title is a non-issue in Indiana.  I could get a court ordered one in 6-8 weeks and $250.00.  I simply need to copy whatever vin number is on the neck and record that on the form at the clerks office.  Another alternative would be to stamp new numbers as is done with any chopper or custom frame bike and use a title from a donor bike.  Either way, it is not an issue.  Both of these options are LEGAL in Indiana and if you want to dispute that, please start another thread. If she wasn't 20 hours away from me (one way) I would be posting the pictures on eBay today to see what it would bring.  She said she would take $800 cash.  That, to me, is more than fair.
