hehe I wasn't offended at all, I didn't understand his comment.  That's why I asked.  In America, that usually hints at an anti-gun stance but with the cannons I was confused.

I am not bothered by anti-gun perspectives at all.  That is a belief, and beliefs are reached through a huge sum of life experiences.  I have no right to challenge that or demean that in any way.  A separate individual's life is his own as is mine, they are both equally alive and real!

The 750 Monolithic Solid Projectile moves at 2460 Feet per Second, to generate over 10,180 Foot Pounds of Energy.

I'm confused by the units here.  It generates torque?  Torque isn't energy.  Am I missing something?

There is a cannon on  our local courthouse lawn, in the 50's a group of college kids loaded it with garbage and fired it. It is now filled with concrete also.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I believe they are miss writing Pounds per foot of energy, the same way some people miss write torque specs as being in lb/ft instead of lbXft .

There's no such thing as lbs/ft of energy

Energy and torque are dimensionally equivalent (force x distance) however they are obviously different concepts. Torque is basically a rotational force, so to find the energy produced by a given torque, it is multiplied by the angular distance traveled, measured in radians, which is a dimensionless number, hence the dimensional equivalence. To distinguish torque from energy it is written as lb-force-feet, or joules/radian

Nevermind.  I see it does work out.  Guess I'm just more used to circuits and metric units.
