      Not only has Sam passed me up on the amount of time online,  but 2 others have as well. No problem for ME guys, as I feel I am in Great Company. It would have to be expected, since I've not been very active here for quite a long time. The MAIN thing IS, This Place Is the BEST Bike Forum going and even though some of us might not see eye to eye with each other, we ALL are STILL members of the BEST BIKE FORUM that there IS BAR NONE!!!!!!!!!!

While I am not in the league of the members you have listed, I feel I must comment on what you refer to as "the main thing".

And that comment is... understated.  I have just done an inventory, and I am a member in WAY too many forums, 13* at present count.  I have found this one to be the closest knit bunch of them all.  Yes, we do have differences every once in a while(oil thread? ), but when the chips are down, we look after our own.  The Wooden Boat forum comes in at a close second, but as they allow political discourse discussion, it tends to be a divided bunch.

      I hear ya 333. I belong to quite a few myself and don't do very many any justice  for a little while now. So far, I think I am registered in 16 different forums. Car, truck and bike forums. It would have been a few more, but there have been some that have shut down. Of course I'm not very active in very many at all. Besides here, there are about about 4 or 5 others that I have been going to.

I'm also a member of a couple of Triumph forums, but one of them is very "cliquey", i.e., if you haven't been a member for 10 years you're frowned on if you offer any advice or question the advice of the "experts".

An example is when I questioned why a US member was making and selling his own "Predator" exhaust systems for Triumphs Rocket III for close to 2000 bucks a pop. I was shouted down from all and sundry (including at least one Aussie) because the maker claimed to have made over 300 (three hundred) dyno runs during the "R&D" phase of production? I wonder how many Dyno runs the other exhaust manufacturers made for each pipe they manufacture, surely nowhere near 300?

And I thought 2000 bucks was a tad expensive for a 3 into 1 pipe that looked remarkably similar in design to the right bank of a set of V6 car headers, was only available in mild steel, painted black, and yet there was a waiting list of several months. I bought a nice chrome Jardine system, a Power Commander III USB and a K&N filter instead, and had change from my 2000 bucks even after shipping from the US to Oz. I think I'll hang around here.

Was never much of a forum guy until I found this place.....

I did however recently join a Land Rover forum and found that in many ways it is quite similar to this one. Lot of folks shootin the breeze about something they love to work and play on....

+1 Bill this is the best bike forum by far! I'm also a member of a couple of others notably the ducati forum - man they sure can fight over on that board, must be something to do with the stereotype ego of a ducati owner perhaps?

Got to question one thing though - if you take out all of the smileys Sam types and normalise his time on the board to take into account his one fingered typing that's slightly slower than a three-toed blind sumataran monkey sloth, he's actually only been online and typing for 20 minutes!

  Ya know, this is the 1st forum I had ever joined and I WAS a bit shakey about it, as I had already heard all kinds of things about places online and all. I had no idea what to expect and was taken in by these folks and it wasn't long before I was really comfortable coming here and have TOTALLY enjoyed this place and appreciated ALL the support I have received over the years and especially with the deal with my Dad's situation AND when I lost my Wife last year. The people here are Awesome (and I'll even include the 4 who have & are ignoring me) and I am proud to say that I am coming up on FIVE years, as of the 4th of Dec.  Yes, This one IS the BEST!!!!!!!

    And thank you Simon, for the kind words as well. It's been a pleasure knowing you and the others too 9and that doesn't mean I'm leaving either.).

This was the first "forum" I joined as well, although I was part of the original mail list group.  That's how I found the forum.  I had drifted away from the mail list for a few years and when I got broadband, "forums" had taken the place of the mail list.

I did not use profanity. There was a guy whining about spending $500.00 to have some work done on a small cruiser, and I suggested he get a canoe to keep the costs down.  He actually laughed about my comment, no complaint was made, but the mods banned me for life.
Too bad really as I have owned, built and restored my share of wooden boats
