CB550 Rear tire came unseated
« on: January 07, 2020, 11:28:26 AM »
On the road with a passenger the other day when I feel a flat. Pull over into a gas station and try to refill the tire with air but it leaks out almost instantly. After taking the wheel off I can see that the tire was unseated from the rim, my guess is something is wrong with the tube or needs to be knocked back into place, where to start?

If you are running a tube and the bead came off the rim the tube is probably toast.  Tubes are pretty cheap so replacing it is a good idea.  You could easily have ripped the stem from the tube body.

If it went flat the tube had a hole in it anyway, its not a car

Let me guess, did you tighten the nut on the valve stem against the rim ? If you did and tire started to slip you can't tell till it tears off.  If you double nut it 3/8 away from  the rim, and it slips you will see it tilt and can sometime fix it before tube tears..

Yeah, I think the cause and effect got a little mixed up.

I had a couple flats on the same [nearly new] rear tire & tube.  Ended up buying a heavy duty tube and no issue since.

Moral of the story for me is dont buy the cheapest china crap tube!
