By the way, this forum is great!  When Ekpent pm'ed his phone #, my eyes bugged out at it because I already had it memorized!  Turns out Ekpent is the step dad of an old best friend of mine.  I already knew Ekpent and hadn't seen him in years!  Crazy old small world...  With Ekpents lower triple replacement, I got busy putting the frontend back together.  Me and my painter used the old steering bearing races and some spare exhaust tubing to whip up some bearing race installers.  They worked the trick 8)

I used the All Ballz tapered bearing kit...seems to be decent quality but it needs some better instructions.   I just used my best guess to figure a couple things out.  I think the main problem is that one kit has the parts for several different model bikes, so you have some parts left over and some are not necessarily designed for our bikes... I took a guess and ground these little tabs off of the adjusting nut so that the grease seal would go in there better...seemed to go together good and work smoooth after that

Damn Sean, I'm wishing I wasn't a 100 miles away now, you've done a bunch of the stuff I need to do to mine. Great work. Looking forward to seeing it in person.

uh oh, had to steal the locking latch off the wolverine so I'm gonna need one...anybody know a source other than used?  I wouldn't recommend taking this style off unless you really have to.  It broke very easily when I was trying to drive the pin back in.  The locking latch is much easier to deal with because it simply screws on...

As far as I'm concerned, it looks better than it works...and I don't care so much for that...so as soon as my rich aunt gets out of the poor house, it's big bore and other engine mod time...don't hold your breath though cuz I can't afford what I want to do.  The trade for this paint job worked out better than my wildest dreams though...any engine builders need their band recorded?

Hey Sean,

I see there's not too many other members' posts in your thread lately, but rest assured we're watching.  Nice treatment on the tail with the stripes coming together like that, haven't seen it done like that before.

thanks Brosh, thats good to know.  The stripes on the tail are an example of my body guy taking some liberty and getting creative.  He says he couldn't get my idea to look right so he stumbled upon this layout.  At first I was kinda skeptical, but now I'm totally happy with it.

figured I'd do a little updating, not much though cuz I've mostly just been ridin'...been kinda struggling with the sidemount license plate.  I would really rather have it in the more traditional location, I just haven't come across something easy...here is some of the work that has been done...

ohh yeah...new tires for the season...front = Avon Speedmaster, back = Dunlop TT100(or something like that).  Gotta say that getting rid of worn out tires and getting new is about the funnest mod you can do to your bike.  I like these tires with the vintage tread pattern combined with sticky rubber but man do they seem to be wearing down fast...now that I think about it...I have already put 4000 miles on 'em

Also, remember earlier where I posted about my bud renting an apartement with an attached shop space?  ...well, me and some other friends decided to rent the other half of it...having lots of fun filling it up with project bikes...it's a killer space with good light, a wood stove, good security and tons of room...gearhead heaven...not gonna tell ya what the rent is for fear of upsetting you guys on the east and west coasts ;)
