SO... As some of you know, I rebuilt my CB750F into a budget cafe that turned out VERY well for the money that i spent on it. I did this to get the bike up and running and so that i could get on it and ride it while I tried to figure out the direction that I wanted to take with the bike.

Here are some before and after pics of the rebuild phase 1...

BEFORE:

These are the closest after pictures that I have. the bike is no different than in these pictures except for the tail.

Now, For the phase 2 build....

Phase 2 will be an all out assault on this motorcycle. The phase 1 build was fun to ride, got lots of attention and lots of comments. But it wasn't what i wanted out of the bike. here are just a few of the planned upgrades.

- 2003 CBR1000RR inverted front forks
- 2002 954rr triple trees
- 2001 GSXR600 throttle bodies
- 2008 CBR1000RR mono-block front calipers
- Microsquirt EFI controller
- Fully built 836cc motor and transmission
- custom built frame W/ aluminum sub-frame
- custom swing arm
- Carbon Fiber gas tank
- carbon fiber seat and tail
- carbon fiber headlight bucket
- Mono-shock rear suspension
- custom wide spoke rims
- 120/xxR18 or 17 front tire
- 180/xxR17 rear tire
- Weight savings wherever possible (shooting for a goal weight of AT LEAST 50lbs)

Obviously there will be numerous things that will get added to this list as I go on, but this will give you the idea of where the build is headed.

I will update sometime tomorrow with where I am at right now.

Thanks guys... I am extremely excited about this build as well. I am hoping to drop the weight of the bike by at least 50 pounds. I think it is very doable. I will be weighing parts as they come off and as they go on to keep a tally of where people can make the most difference in saving weight on these old bikes.

As for the frame, I am still undecided about the direction that I am going to go with it. So for the time being, I will be making modifications on the stock frame while I play around with some ideas in CAD. I am kind of thinking a mix between an EGLI frame and a Rickman frame. but with a different rear sub-frame than what both of those frames had.

P.S. made some updates to the list.

Hey guys, so here are pictures that I told you that I would get.

These are the 2003 CBR1000RR forks that I will be using. You can also see the 954RR triple trees that will be used until I decide if I want to make up some custom triple trees. There is nothing wrong with them and I practically stole these from a guy that decided he wanted to upgrade his 1000RR to ohlins forks....

Here are the 2008 CBR1000RR front mono-block calipers. These things are awesome and light as crap compared to the original caliper. They are going to give me RIDICULOUS stopping power compared to the original too.

These are the 2003 GSXR throttle bodies that I will be using to convert to fuel injection. If you look at stock GSXR throttle bodies you will notice that the ones that I have have been rearranged to have the throttle mechanism in the center. I have also modified the outer throttle bodies so that they fit the proper 76mm spacing for the original carb boots.

I removed all of the extra unnecessary parts off of the throttle mechanism. There is still one part missing from this picture which is the throttle cable bracket and spacers.

I then modified the original carb boots to accept the larger throttle body diameter.

They then fit right on to the head....

Midnight: Thanks for the link to your build. I'm going to be watching this for sure. It sure is interesting how everyone takes a slightly different approach to installing the Suzuki throttle bodies onto the SOHC 750. You did a very nice clean job.

Take care; Clifford

thanks 23T... I got my throttle bodies cheap enough that if i screwed them up, i didn't care... but as luck would have it, they are coming out nicely. I will have to get a custom fuel rail made as the stock fuel rail will no longer fit due to the re-spacing of the throttle bodies...

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

Tonight will be the tear down of the old forks to see what needs to be done about mounting the CBR1000RR forks.

Anyone need a working set of forks, clip ons, healight brackets, etc?

Will post some new pics later tonight.

Thanks lordmember... I have to admit that your build made me kick my butt in gear. I was on the fence about the fuel injection but when looking through your thread i just pushed me over.

As for the good stuff for parts, It will only get better I can promise that... the parts that I have here are only a scratch on the surface of the things that that will make this bike into what I want.

Thats funny that you say "mayhem"... I have this build on some other forums as well and some of the responses that I have received leads me to believe that it needs to be something along the lines of mayhem/post apocalyptic/apocalypse/etc.... lets keep these ideas rolling along these lines....

Well.... The front end is off.... From the looks of things, the 954rr steering stem is going to end up being short by about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.... I will need to get a new steering stem made up so that I can mount the 954rr triples onto the CB750 steering neck...

here are a few pics of the carnage....
