i will definitely give that a shot... only problem is that I am thinking that its most likely metric as it is VW. most of the hardware shops around me dont give 2 cents about metric. gonna go hunting in a little bit hopefully it will come up.

my journey to find a brass or aluminum nut was unsuccessful....

another thing i ran into was the fact that i think the CHT sensor that i picked up will not work properly as it is a single wire sensor and not a dual wire. i will still see if i can figure out if this sensor will work for me or not.

on a brighter note, I have wired up the MAP sensor and the IAT sensor and have positive readings from them. when I get back home from running some errands in about 1.5 hrs, i will wire up the TPS and see if i can get some positive readings from it as well. might get you guys a screen shot later tonight.

just a quick update...

I have finished wiring in all the sensors except for the O2 sensor... Everything is communicating properly with the laptop... I probably need some better table values for the CHT sensor that I am using but other than that, I have steady readings across the board with no noise problems.

I should be receiving my fuel rail today, once i get that, I will be able to fully finish off the TB fabrication. I think i am going to do a center feed fuel rail with returnless fuel system.

here are some screen shots of tunerstudio displaying my sensor information in real time.

you can see in the last picture that the sensor information is nice and flat on the installed sensors... no noise....

Midnight; Sorry, I answered a bunch of your questions on 750essess's posts!!!!

JBweld will work just fine to place that sensor in the fins someplace....others have done it this way. They usually make a bracket for the sensor and JBweld the bracket into a part of the head fins some place inconspicuous. With using JBweld, you can always file and sand it off later if needed with no damage.

Aaaaand, I'll bet you are getting quite exited about now? he! he!

...Take care; Clifford

Fuel Rail showed up... I am going to be doing a center feed  fuel rail and capping the ends of the rail... i might round the fuel rail slightly on the ends to make it a little more visually appealing. i have enough rail now that if i don't like the first design, then i can make a second.

should be taking the rail, throttle bodies, and injectors in to have them drilled and capped.

I like the center feed idea. On my car its returnless and it come in from the drivers side. In a hard right turn ill get either a lean code or ping warning on cyl 4. Course the physics of a bike in a turn are a little different. Can't wait to see this project to progress.

thanks! I think that the center feed will work out nicely. although I am hoping that there will not be any problems with air getting trapped in the system.

Update: I ordered up my fuel pump today... it is an LTR450 pump. should be here in a couple days and then i can get started on plumbing the system.

WELL....Work has had me running around like a chicken with its head cutoff, and my Fiancee had to have some surgery. BUT... I am back up and running.

I got my FPR and most of the fittings so that I can get to plumbing the system. I will have to weld up some mounts for the FPR and the Fuel Pump, but that will have to wait till my tax return gets deposited so that I can pick up my new Miller Welder...

I am going to mount the FPR under the battery tray...

The lack of room under the battery box means that i have to get a little creative with the plumbing, but it all works and has enouugh clearance for swingarm movement.

The Fuel pump is getting mounted under the swingarm...

I wanted to get black fittings and black fuel line, but the local shop didnt have exactly what i wanted. but the fuel line and the routing of the fuel line blends in well and doesnt stick out too much.

Midnight, did you think of running one of the newer "small" {lithium?} batteries and then cutting down the battery box and fitting the pump next to the new smaller battery.? There are a couple of threads here somewhere with dimensions for the smaller batteries and a couple of guys are running them with no problems, would sure tidy things up a bit and keep it looking stock.... ;)

Retro, I did look into that, however, the fuel pump is big enough that it would take up 80% of the batt. box, and the length is too much. it wouldnt allow the seat to close. you cant see the fuel pump at all when standing next to the bike. all you see is the fuel line coming up and out of the side.

I will hide everything much better when i build a new frame. mission is to get the bike up and running well before worrying about hiding every inch of the system.

OK I'm hooked on the idea of EFI. :)  Question regarding the Aeromotive regulator.  It looks like the version with the vaccum port.  I was under the impression that was only required if you are running a turbo.

it is... however, you can run it without a turbo as well. or you can cap/plug the vacuum port. The only reason that I have this particular regulator is because the local speed shop had it in stock and on sale... and I have had good luck with aeromotive in the past.

The EFI mod is definitely shaping up to be a good one... I still have to figure out the charging system though.... but the benefits are looking to be fun and beneficial

Just so everyone is clear... you have to REALLY want EFI... if you don't have the itch to do this, then don't... I haven't added up the expenses yet, but I am sure I have surpassed the price of a set of CR carbs already.

OK that makes sense, always good when you can keep money in your own pocket. :)   As for cost, I have no doubt that if you can do all this for x2 the cost of CR's, it will still be a good deal.  Especially given the potential for improved drivability, economy, and maximising performance.

Not to mention how f'n trick it'll be.

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

did a little machining today...

gonna use an old hub to make some hub centric adapter rings for the front CBR 1000RR rotors. first thing to do was to split them in half.
Unfortunately the bearings for the hubs have not showed up yet, so I can not figure out my spacing.

I also pressed out the old CBR 1000RR steering stem...

I also have some solid cold rolled steel stock at the house and decided to play around with it before I order up some aluminum. I still have some learning to do on running a lathe before I attempt the final stem.

I also cleaned up some parts that came with a new QCTP that i got.

Before:

After:

Machining is starting to get fun now that I am getting good results.

looking forward to seeing how this turns out.  I'll be putting MS in my GTI this summer hopefully. I have thought about doing microsquirt on my seca but the cost would be too high for now...

Keep up the good work!

the auto setting on that machine is a very nice feature, it welds smoother than my millermatic130 and the 200 amp unit but we have had the 200 since about 1980 with no problems
