OK.... SO.... It has been a while since I have updated this... But work and life have gotten a little busy lately...
Put in a bid for a house... Hoping to hear back on that soon...Then moving and properly building out the garage.
Getting married in October... been doing wedding stuff with the fiancee..
Without further delay... Some updates...
Got the fuel rail built up. It needs some cleaning up and then i think i am going to powder coat it black.
I got the Throttle bodies, fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, etc... all mounted and completely plumbed. I have not pressure tested yet... I am kinda nervous about that one. But, I think it will be fine. All of the fuel lines are tucked away nicely and hide themselves pretty well. All of the wiring for the microsquirt is hidden under the fuel tank. If a person wasn't paying attention really well, the probably wouldn't even notice that it has been fuel injected, especially after I get the K&N pods on them... Which is what I was shooting for. (modification and modernization without killing the looks of the bike)
The fuel pressure regulator location worked out just as I had hoped... The fuel pressure gauge peaks out just beneath the left hand side cover for easy viewing access. It looks like it is right above the chain in the picture, but it is about an inch to an inch and a half behind the chain. plenty of clearance. It is also an oil filled pressure gauge so it should stay pretty steady and not damage as easily.
I Finally got enough cajones to cut the steering stem on the lathe... and it came out GREAT...
I started with this....
And ended up with this....
Obviously I still need to add the threads, tapers and need to part the stem from the rest of the stock. I was also able to gain the extra length that I needed due to the length differences between the steering heads on a CB750 and a CBR1000RR.... The below picture is with the bottom machined surfaces lined up... ( if you reference the above picture, you can see the difference)
So, all in all, I am getting pretty close to having the front end bolted on, and the fuel injection to a starting point. I wish there were more hours in a day so that I could work to pay the bills, then come home and enjoy working on my motorcycle...
