I appreciate the bump and the wondering...

The build is still going on... Work has been busy as of late and I have not had the time to get as much done on the bike as i would like....

BUT.... There HAS been progress... I know you guys like pictures, So here are some for you!

The microsquirt is installed into the bike as of current. I have communications between the microsquirt and my laptop so now it is a process of gathering all necessary sensors and wiring them in. As well as doing the final fabrication to the throttle bodies...

The front end needs a little bit more work, but getting the fuel injection running is of higher priority as its going to take more time to tune than it will to finish up the front end.

Don't be scared by the wiring... the wires are clearly labeled at to what they go to. just make sure that you read the mega-manual when you get your ECU. There are wiring instructions in the manual.

hopefully i will have all the final throttle body fabrication done today and i can send them off to have a new fuel rail made up.

I used one (actually 2) on my Northstar and it turned out pretty well. Might be kind of cumbersome on a bike though. Gotta love the wiring available for Megasquirts, although I used a different standalone on my car I went with a MS harness and love the labeling. Can't wait to see this completed.

I have seen that, I was also looking into the Aeromotive bulk fuel rail stock. I am still considering their fuel pump and regulator as well. but I can not find any info on current demand for the pump. I will be calling them tomorrow morning to see if they will give me that information.

Then again, I am digging the fact that the ross machine fuel rail is just a nice clean slate.

they do not come with manuals... but you can find just about everything that you need here:

it took me a while to figure out what the heck i needed to do... but i think it is a right of passage for those getting into fuel injection.

Yeah, you guys...don't let all them wires worry you too much......a lot of them are not needed in our motorcycle engines. Just cut the unneeded ones up short and shrink-seal the ends. Pay particular close attention to the grounding of the wires and the 5 volt system for some of the sensors. Try to keep your wiring away from ignition primary and secondary wiring. These can generate unwanted signals to the ECM.

I've done two microsquirts on old Honda's now. The first one, I thought..no way in hell can this old goat figure out all this wiring and shyt......but I did....one wire or sensor at a time.....it was done in less than a weekend!!

did a little work over the past 2 days....

i plugged up the holes for the ugly choke plates on the GSXR throttle bodies...

I used some JB weld and some flat head counter sunk hardened steel screws to fill and make the holes look a little better...

here are some pictures for you junkies....

Put some tape on the inside to maintain the contour of the inside of the throttle body

fill with JB weld....

insert a flat head screw into the JB-weld to finish off the hole... note the finished flat head screw on the left and the unfinished TB on the right...

I also have some fuel rail stock on the way from ross machine racing, some wiring pigtails for my GM-3 bar MAP sensor and a air-cooled VW CHT sensor. all that is left to do is to drill the fuel rail to match the re-spacing, and get the fuel system parts and plumb it. then get to tuning the thing....

thanks syscrush.... It is very interesting... i am learning a ton while doing this...

I am still uncertain what i am going to do about the charging issues... I know that i will not be going to any type of external charging. I am going to have to figure out some type of internal upgraded charging system. I know that 750essess had success with installing a VFR charging system into his CB... i will most likely look into doing something similar.

Got my VW CHT sensor in today!!! gonna have to find a way to mount it to the cylinder head.

I'm thinking of mounting it in a nut and attaching that but to the top fin between cylinders 2 & 3.

Anyone know if JB-weld conducts heat efficiently? if not, does anyone know of any good ways to attach a steel or brass nut to an aluminum head that will conduct heat efficiently into the sensor?

You could braze it on with a torch and brass brazing rod. Works well.

maybe aluma-weld or somthing similiar, can't use brass melting temp is to high

If you can TIG weld and solder, then there's no reason to be intimidated by brazing. I'm OK with soldering, can braze alright but wouldn't do anything that I had to trust my life to, and have never done TIG.

The medium attaching the two dissimilar metals together must have a lower melting temp than the mating metals. other than tin and mag not many thing fit that bill and are compatible with steel and aluminum

what does the sensor look like?

I don't deal with aluminum a lot, but I know that steel and aluminum don't mix, they actually have a corrosive reaction.

maybe you could find a aluminum or brass nut, or drill and tap a fin

this is what the CHT sensor looks like....

i will try to find a brass nut to use. but i am thinking that it will be somewhat difficult without having to order one.

I bet it's pipe thread....look at aluminum conduit coupler/connectors if you find one just cut to the length you want
