Oh yeah, Wombat, Rat, Super Rat, Road Toad, Dirt Squirt and Thunderdog!  My 250SL was one of the few models that DIDN'T get a name, but everyone said the 'SL' was for Stanley Lipschitz.  :)

I remember reading an article about the company that said it was a very progressive fun place to work. There were two dealers around here, the last just sold all their bikes and inventory only a couple years ago. Amazing the money used Hodakas bring :o-kind of like sohc Hondas.  Guess people are reliving their youth...Larry

Yep, I've heard that.  And, there's a couple of very active forums out there where many of those former employees, including high-ranking managers and directors and stuff still actively participate!

Kinda like having Mr. Honda knocking around here, swappin' stories about the SOHCs...

Thanks, Bill, it really does look great for a 35 year old dirt bike.  No dents and runs well.  I found a battery that will work for both the 250  CZ and 175 Jawa-a B39-6, a battery for an old 6v BSA.  I am having trouble locating 6v bullet type fuses.  Anybody have any idea as to value?  Larry

You can go to the local auto parts store and purchase a new modern fuse holder and fuses (blade type). I do this to many of the bikes I work on.

Tom,  thanks for the info.  I do that frequently if necessary but with this bike I want to keep it as close to stock as possible so I want the bullet type fuse.  I got some GBC fuses from a friend...Larry

Ya know Kirk, I don't recall that I'd ever seen the picture of your Hodaka. Really a sharp bike. Would have been cool to see how the Hodaka and the Jawa compared.

Looking forward to seeing that 175 to, Larry. I've got a few of the Jawa/CZs (got a '72 CZ175 that I need to get out service up the new battery I have for it, check the carb, points & plug, to see about getting it running. Also have a '74 CZ175 that is in a pretty sad state, a mid 60's Jawa 250 that I am building on and an early 50's Jawa 50 that was my 1st bike (but it is disassembled and needs rebuilt).

Bill,   I  have the Jawa 175 running but I need to iron out the bugs and get some photos.  I have other things to worry about- my son is in the hospital.

Kirk,  that is a very cool bike.  Don't remember, was that a stock color?

Yep - stock color.

In 77 you could get the white tank & side panels with blue frame.  In 78 (the last year for Hodaka) you could get red tank & side panels with black frame.  White Preston Petty plastic fenders on both.

Neat machine, but I sold it off after a while.  Bikes - they come and they go...  :)

Yeah, they do come and go Kirk. Fact is, I had a Road Toad and Sole it even before I got to redo it.  ::)
