Next up was popping the head off and checking out the under side.  It all went pretty well for a 1st time.  No broken fins (at least by my B.F.H) and i don't think i lost anything down in to the engine.

Then came the block.  It took a bit more....coaxing.... but it too gave up in the end.  To my surprise the cam tensioner all looked good.  They must have been replaced when the chain was... ??? ???

One thing i did notice that didn't look right to me where these indents in the pistons.  It looks to my untrained eye like the pistons where kissing the exhaust valves.  All the valve indents aren't symmetrical from piston to piston and they just don't look "right".  I know its really hard to see what i am talking about, but those were the best pics i could come up with.

You will need to change your screen name soon.  You are further into this than a few "experts" around.   8)

hah yes, agreed.
you seem to have gotten that done in a timely manner also.

I feel like any time I have to remove a 30 year old screw or bolt it requires a broken body part, broken tools, and multiple trips to hardware/automotive stores.

Haha the bike definitely got its fill last night.  I also took a piston clip off the forehead that i swear could have taken an eye out.   The safety will on for the rest of them!!
