It's hard to believe that it was so long ago.

I watched a show about John Lennon last Sunday Night called "Naked Lennon"
http://www.throng.com.au/documentary/lennon-naked

It gave a good insight of what he went through during The Beatles era and why he wanted out.
The guy who acted Lennon said (as John) that he didn't want to be the "Nations Pet" anymore.

The movie ended with John and Yoko boarding their plane in the UK to The States with the message "And Never Returned"

He was a musical genius just trying to work his way through a life of fame, and sadly, I think he was getting there when he was gunned down by that manac.

I have been choked up all day whenever they do a piece on him on the radio or TV.

I was working for a guard dog company, driving a truck picking up my dogs that morning. I had to pull over and stop for about a half hour until I could stop crying. Yeah, the pain's still there....      One of my favorites.....

I never forget starring at the front page of the newspaper in disbelief. How many so-called world leaders can say they had such a profound effect on society as John Lennon did?

I remember exactly the circumstances when I heard the news......can't say that about many other big events in my 55+years.
Watched the show last night "the day john lennon died" - first time I had seen that one, my eyes were filled with tears for most of it.
I still get goose bumps when I hear "imagine" and I carry a stack of beatle cd's in my car.
As the old saying goes....."we was robbed".

Did any one else catch Paul McCartney on SNL this past Saturday? Not only was it the first time I've ever seen a musical act play 4 times instead of the usual 2, but he also did a nice little tribute to Lennon by singing 'A Day in the Life' ending it with 'Give Peace A Chance'.

This is one of those myths that have been out there for years.  Yoko Ono did not break up the Beatles anymore than any of the other "Beatles" wives.  Creative differences, wanting to move on with your life, living in close quarters for ten years much of that under the pressure of Beatlemania did it.  Not as well known is the fact that Lennon was looking for a way out of the Beatles by 1965 but admitted in an interview that he didn't have the courage to to it.  He did quit the group several months before Paul quit and "officially" ended the group.

Myth? That's funny. I was watching a documentary on BBC about Lennon's life and they were rather quick to point out that Yoko Ono was in fact a big reason the Beatles called it quits. She was constantly attached to his hip. She would sit right next to John when they were in the studio trying to record songs. This was all recorded by cameras that Lennon and Ono had following them around to record their pompous lives. There weren't any other Beatle's wives present in the studio. They hated the fact that she was always there. All John and Yoko ever did was use the word "peace" to market themselves, and very successfully. He's just another dead (rich) hippie, IMO.
