Just thought Id show off my chopper tank. Its a NOS 68 Chapparal mini bike tank. Still needs clearcoated. Not bad for a rattlecan job done in the driveway. Hahaha...

Ill be using the 2K rattle can two part clearcoat, and I used actual lace.
You just wet it a little, and lay it smooth than fog over it.
Its the first time ive ever done lace, so its not quite as nice as Id like it, but as I always say... Im not building show bikes. Hahaha

it looks a little wrinkly but im sure if you wet sand and clear it it will look great.

This was common in the '70's and I have seen it on Barret jackson musclecars that sold for big bux. The lace style.. nice touch. Tell more about your process and where you find the flowers. Are they suposed to be lotus flowers? Can you get a pattern like hawaiian shirt?

Ya, lace work was big in the 70s on choppers and lowriders. Really came about in the 60s on some kustom cars. Ive always been a fan, and the little chopper has a serious 70s vibe anyhow. As far as the pattern, I just looked for one that jumped out at me. Its just bulk lace fabric. The flowers are roses. Honestly I have no idea if theres a Hawaiian typw pattern out there, but maybe.

cool tank. my son does the lace painting on cars and bikes. he did this tank pictured. and he did his 1960 bel air. all he uses is spray bomb. i think this tank he used dupli color. i think my next chopper project is going to be lace and gold leafing.

all I gotta say is go get it cleared proffesionaly...I have had big problems with many different kinds of rattle can clear and GAS

when I cleared my tank, I used some clear thats for wheels. It was at autozone, I can find the can around here somewhere. It wasnt very shiny but I tipped my bike over and gas ran all over it for a few minutes (too weak to pick it up). Anyway, no bubbling or anything. It held up great. And you can go extra thick with it not running.
