Source for rubber grommets?
« on: December 10, 2010, 06:58:52 AM »
Just bought a pair of Sportster shocks that will fit onto my KZ400 - except the little rubber grommets that go inside the eyes are a different size. Evidently you're supposed to push them out and use the stock ones off the KZ, but the shocks on there now aren't stock, and the grommets that are on there are shot. So where can I find that kind of thing? There's a set of stockers on ebay but they're $25 (for TWO!) and on bikebandit they're about that, if they're even available new. Any other ideas?

I found a pair of NOS S&W Shocks for my project. S&W was bought out by Progressive Suspension way back. The grommets in the S&Ws had turned to clay. Progressive didn't have the detail for my shocks any longer so they sent me a bag of all different size of shock grommets, probably 6 pair. One of which was perfect. For free.

Give them a call and offer to pay for help. Can't hurt.

For that matter if i can find them, I'd send you what I have left and if one pair works you can send the rest back.

That would be great. Any other ideas out there? Is there a grommet company I could order these from assuming I had the ID & OD?

These guys have "Bonded rubber bushes" for dirt bike shocks. 9 bucks each. You could give them a call with your size. I've had good service from them. http://www.speedandsport.com/flyer.html#suspension
