MyCB750K6,
The more the merrier. Strength in numbers are definitely what we're after but I just don't see it happening from the north due to seasonal weather patterns.
Initially, I foresaw the beginning southern leg running close to the Gulf and through the desert areas to San Diego simply because of potential weather patterns THEN taking a diagonal cut through Las Vegas into Utah, the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, etc. Vegas just seems like a must! As all the guys start chiming in the routing will definitely take a more localized approach. It's looking like a coastal route north from San Diego will be a distinct possibility with all the guys in SoCal joining in. It's about people, weather, AND time. Now I can see routing through Tucson, up to Phoenix, the Grand Canyon, through Vegas then to San Diego before heading up the coast. I'm also "seeing" the NorCal guys hooking up in San Fran with the other guys headed north towards San Fran and riding through the mountains to Reno maybe via Yosemite, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, all BEAUTIFUL MAGNIFICENT places.
One concern I have is finding the people to ride through the vast unpopulated expanses of Nevada and Utah. While US50 aka The Loneliest Road in America is a great ride on a great 2 lane and perhaps a once in a lifetime event for most of us I just don't believe we have the people in those areas so we'll need some long range ride committments from our folks.
Like I say, we have to have people to make this work! Keep signing on guys. I'm adding you to the list. As the list becomes populated I'll have to make it route based rather than just by numbers but that's for another day probably in the NEAR future.
