STUCK fork seals - cb175
« on: December 12, 2010, 05:41:54 PM »
I have my forks fully diassembled and I can't get the damn seals out. I've heard of people filling them with water and compressing them, forcing the seal out, but I've already molested one of mine trying to get it out so that isn't going to work. I can get a good grip on it with some needle-nose pliers, but I'm just pulling out chunks of rubber. It won't budge. :-[

So what's next? I hope there's a less primitive way to get this done... ???

maybe try heating up the outside of the fork lower. i use a heat gun for this. then try whatever method you use to get them buggers out. just try to be careful not to scratch the lowers up too much.
