New guy from Cali.
« on: December 13, 2010, 07:39:56 AM »
Hey all, new guy here from near San Francisco.  Been off and on searching for an old RD400 until yesterday. I picked up this 1975 Honda CB400F that was sitting (unknowingly to me until it was out on the curb for the trash guy, LOL) in my neighbors garage for 10 plus years. I have some of the paperwork (basically a bill of sale from 1994) for it, hopefully DMV won't be to full of hassles.  I still have to go through the box, but I think everything is there minus headlight and throttle control.  It was originally red, but repainted and someone mentioned the rear shocks may be S&W's?  Anyways, looks like I found the right place for info.  Now I just have to find a service manual for it and start tearing it apart.

Well I guess it's kind of sad that a newbie has to welcome a newbie but what the heck, welcome aboard. Nice find and can't beat the price Here's a link to the manual for the CB400F.

Welcome,  great bike and even better find..  I've picked a bit of trash in my time but never found a motorcycle.  Best find was an antique chest.

I have three 400fours  now and four in the past, light, quick handling and reliable.  Plus easy to work on, top end can be done in the frame.  The link for the manual is a plus of this site, and the Honda manual is the best.

Yes,  the do remind me of S&W shocks....welcome,  Larry
