Yeah, except when he's delivering your CB parts, and you aren't at home.  Apparently, the signature on the back of the delivery slip doesn't mean they'll leave it anymore.  Now I have to take time off work to go get the package.

I don't know if I'd trust sending parts to some random guy off a forum. He sounds shady.

Our regular UPS driver is named Mark, we have become friends over the years.  Four or five years ago we were having a chat and he asked me about fishing in a place where he and his wife were going to vacation with another couple; he knew it was an area where I went often to fish.  As luck would have it I was going down there to fish at the same time he would be there and so I took him and his buddy off shore fishing for a day.  Just like with anyone else we split the expenses and the fish even, so there were no special favors.  The boys both caught nice fish, including Mark's buddy who we put on a White Marlin (catch and release) and Mark himself who caught a very nice Wahoo, which he later commented on as being the best fish he had (never heard of) ever eaten - or ever hoped to - in his life.

So, now ask me how often one of my packages gets mis-delivered to the wrong address or not delivered at all if I'm not there to sign for it.  The answer:  Never.

Its at the discretion of the deliveryman. If he thinks the situation is uncool, he'll keep the package. Maybe someone was stalking him.

Here's an interesting test Popular Mechanics recently conducted on package handling.  They shipped a special recording device through the USPS, UPS and FedEx to see how their packages were handled.  Check this out...

UPS would never leave packages on my porch in Denver, but FedEx and USPS would.  Seems they had our address listed as signature only, and the UPS guy had a knack for showing up in the short time that I would run out to the garage to get something or take the trash out.  I finally had to buy a doorbell extender so I could hear it in the garage.

As a former Fedex Ground Contractor, I can vouch for that. As a contractor and not an employee, we were responsible for the cost of the package, [Yes, it came out of our pay] if it turned up missing. Most times there was no problem, but if you didn't feel right about it you didn't leave it.  I probably averaged a few claims a year for each of the 10 years I worked there, not too bad when you consider I probably made about 60 to 70 residential stops a day.  :-\

Sometimes I ship ceramic art, sometimes motorcycle parts- including New Zealand, Australia, and Japan.  I have learned to use USPS exlusively.  IMHO, UPS and Fed-X can suck eggs.  In fact, I've learned the hard way- they DO.

In our neighborhood, less than desirables like to follow the UPS man around to see what he's leaving on the front porch. So I have my stuff delivered to work.

Hmm, and I thought I didn't like UPS.

Domer's a stand up guy.  I should have had it delivered to him.  Oh well, I have Friday off, so I guess I'll swing by UPS as long as they still have my package.  I don't understand why he didn't leave it.  I have a locking steel security gate, and he has a key to it.  It would have been safe inside my building.  I suppose he didn't trust my neighbors.

FYI, Domer, I'm pulling the 350 twin apart again.  Bent valves and worn out timing gear = very poor running.  Argh!  There goes another weekend.
