It's not just for Brits anymore!!
After a LOT of looking around for reasonable
insurance, I finally went with Progressive. (I'm in the USA)
They had no classification for my bike at all, so to this day
my insurance card lists my 73 500 as a CBR.

BTW - one insurance company wanted to charge me
$1500.00 a month for bike insurance!!!!!
Bikes parked out front mean good chicken-fried steak inside.

That's crazy, I wouldn't put that much trust in an insurance company. I'm not saying that they would use any excuse not To payout :P

If you get stopped by a knowlegeable police officer, can he give you a ticket for falsified insrance papers? ;D

I heard that here in Canada the province of Quebec is trying to go nuts on bike insurance. One guy told ne from $200 a year to $900-$1300 a year. Whether or not this is true at this point I cannot say. I'm paying a grand total of $135 a year for 4 bikes, but these are added onto my existing car policy.

Called them and told them about the error, didn't matter.

My worry with stuff like this is, You get an online quote or speak to an advisor, and your bike 'aint in the list and they say:-

"Oh, well we'll put it down as a lamaZukiSaki 750, it's the same really."

YOU sign the agreement that states that "everything to the best of your knowledge is accurate and correct"

You prang or a "smidsy" hits you, and the Insurance Assessor says, "I'm sorry your insurance is invalid because YOU falsified information on the application form, we cannot pay out".

In the UK that also means your Road Tax License is in valid to.  The Question is, are you :-

1. Commiting Fraud.
2. Driving without valid insurance.
3. Driving without valid Road Tax

Am I parranoid?

There are a couple of specialist insurers of classic motorcycles in the UK. Carole Nash is one and another is called Footman James plus others. I pay approximately £100 for fully comprehensive agreed value (£1000) on my CB400f. I wonder if any of our American friends tried to insure with them what the result would be?

My Dad sells insurance part time in his retirement for a small company. Have the agent sign a release stating exactly which bike you came to him to insure, and describing the hassle with the insurance company. Include the VIN number. If it is agent or company error, they are still liable, at least in the US. In fact, my Dad's company carries it's own policy specifically to cover errors by the agent or company. If anyone would like I could ask him for more specifics.
