Ha ha, bugger that mate, as much as riding a snowmobile would be great fun, I hate the cold, I've only been to the snow twice in my life, both times in the army, and both times against my will! No, give me a sunny day and a tank full of gas and I'll be good, especially if there's a chance to stop for a couple of cold beers on the way home! OK, I better get outside and strip this bike down, the frame won't paint itself! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I wonder why I never hear any of you with electric clothing? I have a Widder electric vest, I think he may have closed shop, but was very popular until he retired.  This is one of the most popular now...

http://gerbing.com/

yes they draw a little current, my CB750 never had a problem. I even used it on my 305 SuperHawk. The deal is, full on they get pretty hot, so you'll likely never have it turned up all the way anyway, and you'll turn it down when your speed goes down, and at idle, as it'll smoke you. Like wearing an electric blanket.

The "real" touring guys would never leave home without it, and of course they have the full suits, most of it is snowmobile technology. But a vest is all you "need", keep your core warm and its a different world.

i hope your bike is waterproof as on the news here in pommy land  (England or blighty) it would appear that you have rather a lot of precipitation (rain & flooding) in your neck of the woods !

Fukk that guys, if I was unfortunate enough to live in those cold climes, I'd stay indoors with the heater on until summer! No rain here in Melbourne Sporty, but I think Mick and Dave in Queensland (and probably Mick in Darwin too) are probably commuting by Ark right now.

I've had no problems with electrics (particularly wet plug leads shorting out) since I installed Bosch 8mm silicon leads and caps onto my Dyna 3 Ohm coils, in fact I tried to drown the engine with my garden hose when degreasing it on Sunday and it didn't miss a beat, brilliant! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Thanks jerk  :D

Sorry.. It's rare that I actually (LOL- Laugh Out Loud) But
Hahahahaah

If it's under 50 Degrees here in Nashville Im not riding.. Only things I will put on is long-johns under my pants, a leather jacket, winter motorcycle gloves and a full face helmet... Anything more than that the "Hey I'm cool" factor goes away..

If I had anything other than a cafe bike, like a sport touring with a windshield then I may don more winter gear..
Cafe Racing is mainly a matter of taste. It is an atavistic mentality, a peculiar mix of low style, high speed, pure dumbness, and overweening commitment to the Cafe Life and all its dangerous pleasures. I am a Cafe Racer myself, on some days - and it is one of my finest addictions. ~H. S. Thompson~

I was sanding back my K1 frame in the driveway today, just wearing a T shirt, shorts and thongs.  ("Flipflops" for my American friends or "jandals-bro" for my Kiwi neighbours) When I got out of the shower ("spare room" for my English friends) I looked down and my feet are sunburned! Bugger!  ;D

The riding season in N. Georgia depends on the year. Last year we had a 10(ish) month long riding season. This year is not turning out the same. Been far colder this winter. Hell we had our first white Christmas since the 1800's. Cold or not I still ride my bikes around the block weekly. Last week I had to run my hands under hot water when I got back. Was a little chilly. :P

Like you, Terry, I used to brag about our year-round riding weather here in Austin, God's favorite city. Today, for example, it will probably get close to 70. Not bad for the dead of winter.

However, all my bragging did was convince a whole lot of people that they ought to move to Austin - and that sucks. More crowded roadways, rising prices caused by too many people etc.

So, for the record, you can ride a MC in Austin only THREE DAYS PER YEAR! It is too hot, too cold, too rainy or just too nice to ride any other time.

Stay home, Snowbirds.

Yeah Pat, but how many of them are bikers like you and me? That's what shiits me the most mate, beautiful weather seems to bring out every dickhead 4 wheel driver and his dog, clogging the highways and pouring diesel smaoke over all and sundry. I thought those tools preferred cold wet weather so they could engage 4 wheel drive and chop up all the forestry roads? Oops, I just remembered that my son owns a 4 wheel drive, not that it's ever been off the black top! ;D

About 90 percent of the time, at least hereabouts, after the dickwad in the SUV or super-high jacked up pickup with the ridiculous tractor tires cuts you off and almost kills you (motorcycles are invisible to those twits), and you catch up with them - you know, just to see what they look like - you discover it is a housewife from Round Rock who couldn't handle a vehicle that big even if she WASN'T putting on makeup and texting.

The closest those vehicles come to offroad is if they happen to have an unpaved driveway.

And they all came here for the mild weather, which they can't enjoy in their air conditioned tuna boats.

I reiterate... Austin is a terrible place to live. The weather sucks. Stay up north where it is nice, y'all.

Australia was in the news here again today about the flooding. Now they say you should watch out for the snakes and gators!

PAt - not sure what part of Austin you were in, but it rained all afternoon Downtown.

Rain? Rain? I understand the concept, but I can't say I have a clear memory of that phenomenon. Foggy memories, sorta distant...that has something to do with water, right?

Ha ha, we don't have Alligators in Australia mate, the Salt Water Crocodiles ate them all! Actually I remember a terrible story about a girl from Europe who narrowly escaped being killed in the Bali bombing in 2002, so she came over to Australia to recuperate, and was promptly eaten by a Crocodile. I guess her number was up? Cheers, Terry. ;D
