I don't think so, i have seen plenty with 16 inch wheels and lowered fronts and they Won't handle better like that and just adding clubmans and maybe a glass tank and rearsets won't make them handle any better either. Cafe's are like arseholes, everyone has one and for that reason alone i wouldn't own one, i like to be a little different.... ;)

Definitely prefer the brat style....something about cafe'd bikes just doesn't do it for me...something about the knee dented tanks and fibreglass seats...

Anyhow, I think prefer more stockish looking bikes to either...but to each his own!

I am speaking for myself and my buddies who build cafe's,we try and upgrade the suspension, more power, modern parts when applicable(tires, bearings, oil etc)And though I kinda like the look of 16 inchers,I wouldnt do it.less weight as well.

I've had both. Both built on XS650's.
The cafe' was beautiful. I would literally stop in the garage and stare at it. The wasp-like lines. The impression of improved handling with the Clubmans and the seating position.
But it was a pain in  the neck on long rides. Literally.
The Brat bike was much more comfortable. It was at least as fast or faster since it was so stripped down.
I ended up selling them both earlier this year. Now I ride a CB500 and I'm working on a stock restoration of a '75 XS650B.
 Build what you like.

I really like the look of this bike.  Now you have me looking for an XS750 tank for my 79 XS650.  The XS650 Specials always looked a bit heavy in the rear and you have effectively stretched out the look of the bike.

I have no preference really, any style of bike that appears to be well thought out and well executed, in addition to having a healthy balance of form and function, will get my adoration.
