Anyone installed one of Carpy's rocket four seat on a 77-78 750 super sport?  How was the install?  Any pics?

Count on it.  If isn't on the 550, the 400SS is always ready.  A tour up into the Muskoka area would be fun.  Great country side.

Hey Strawhouse, took a look at Carpy's seat.

It's like any another 'glas one.  A shell you have to make your own mounts for.  In one of his little blurbs he says he mounts them solid, and permanently attaches a battery tender connection.  So if you have to service the battery you have to unbolt the seat.  Says he does this because he likes them down on the rails. haha.  More likely because he doesn't have a kit to make it functional.  You can get stainlees hinge kits for the 750 on eBay. ;)  If you haven't quessed I'm not a Carpy fan, as a very large portion of what he sells comes from somebody else, and he's over priced.

Airtech sells a version of the seat I used that uses the 750 hinges, and lock.  If you trimmed the back to reverse the angle and glas'd it close you would have a very similar seat, that was functional.  Just a thought.

Thanks for the info, Im still debating about which way to go.  The old girl is getting a makeover this winter and Im thinking about different seat options.  I was just curious to see that seat on other rides besides Carpy's.

When I was looking for a seat for my build I used - this forum's Inspiration Gallery / Airtech's Vintage section / eBay's cafe section / and googled race bike photos.  Carpy's rocket seat is a lot like a Norton one, but shortened.

I didn't pay much attention to what bike a seat was on, just looked for a shape I liked.  The nice thing about glas seats is its easy to modify their length or width to get the fit you want.

I bought the same seat and just finished making a fiberglass seat pan for it.  For mounting carpy's seat to the frame the front part of the seat should slide under the "F" gas tank.  Also, I think I'm going to drill holes in the rear of seat right where the turn signals would mount through the seat into the frame.  After that I'll just have to see how tight it feels and perhaps add some circluar clips that go around the frame tubing that would mount in the seat.
