Hi there, sounds like a dodgy website to me, don't give it your credit card details!
Hagon shocks are fine, a good and cheapish alternative, although the chrome doesn't stand up to an English winter!
Regards David.

New(er) Hagons have the stainless steel springs.

@ Dave, I can provide the shocks if you want. Let me know which ones you want and I'll get back to you.

Cheers, Rob

JMR-Suzuki ran 9.995 with pretty much beat up and very old Hagon rear shocks, I can recommend them as a cheap alternative ;)

Seriously, I've used them on my CB as well and they work just fine.

+1 to what Simon says - IKONs are way superior. Other's I'd consider for a lower capacity bike are Falcon shock absorbers from the UK but as IKON are a local brand you couldn't go far wrong with them...

It is a bit like apples and oranges. Take price into consideration and the Hagons are not bad (at all).
Can name a few that are also superior to the Hagons but again......at a price. But know a few, myself included, that are using Hagons on racebikes with good results. On my other bike I actually use Koni's.

rob do you have any experience with the better hagons [ nitro i think they are called ] they may ok , although im not keen on stainless steel springs . i rebuilt a pair of the cheap ones for a customer last year and they were very crude internally [ similar to a 50 year old girling  ]  but as you say they are very cheap

Hey Simon,

As can be seen on the pic's we use the, somewhat more expensive, adjustable's on the Endurance bike. Only set back is they only come in eye to eye, so one has to change the connection to the swing. As you probably know Hagon are based on the old Girling's.
Have even tried the idiot expensive Ohlins once on a CB racer, but they too were not better than the Koni's.
Never experienced prob's with the Hagons so far. Big bonus is you can get every length, spring and damping setting for one price. Stainless springs, all black you name it.
But it is kind of a 'budget' shock.

no i didnt know they where based on the girlings but i suppose it makes sense . they where a good shock 50 years ago but time moves on . guess im just used to modern racers who spend all weekend telling me the reason there lap times are so crap is because the new ohlins rear shock isn't sensitive enough . however i did notice that at spa the racers at the front where using more modern suspension and i doubt this is a coincidence .

Was at Spa and can tell you that a lot of these riders can ride circles around us even without shocks ;D
To name a couple: Stephane Mertens, Didier de Radiques ex GP riders, Henk van de Mark and Dirk Brand on the 3 cylindre Laverda ex 24 Hour of Le Mans winners, etc. Did you notice the equipment? No need for shocks, enough power to make up on the straights ;)
Not saying Hagon is race suspension, far from that, but it is a very economical shock that works. (up to a certain level)

Cheers mate,

Rob

you are right rob they can !!    but its not the power on the straights that makes them so fast [ or all of us could do it ] its  speed round the corners , and this is where  good suspension comes in .

so then at spa you where the one looking at the engines , and i was the one looking at the shocks!

back on topic , ok ok hagon is a very economical shock that works [ up to a certain level ]
