Painted airbox... was it stock?
« on: March 27, 2012, 09:25:27 AM »
I was at East Side Performance here in Mesa, AZ and he has an original/unrestored CB750 in there with only a few thousand miles on it... just beautiful

It has an airbox that is gold to match the bike, it looks like a rattle can job with a run down the side.  Did they come stock with painted airboxes?  Maybe fuel damaged the paint, who knows.

But that's my question, is it stock?

1970 and earlier had smooth painted airbox. Worth very good money if you can find them without cracks. They were fragile and are being reproduced.

Thanks for the info... he has some very minty bikes, I posted them a few weeks ago.
I didn't think he would try to pull one over one me, but I'd just never seen it before.
