CB750K4 kick starter hitting foot peg
« on: December 18, 2010, 08:14:53 AM »
Is this a common thing with CB750's or am I just looking at either a kick starter or foot peg that's a tad bent?  You can see where over time the foot peg has worn a small groove in the kick starter where it's been making contact.

I have three kick start levers that all have that same notch worn in them.

I have a K8 just went to look at it. My kicker has a offset in it but when all the way down it only has 2 to3 mm of clearance I think maybe your bike has been laid over and bent your foot peg just a little it may be hard to see.

The later 76?-78 kick start levers have a slightly different angle.  Perhaps to address this issue.

All the K1-K6 bikes were like that.  :D
When the "F" models came out, they offset the lever a little to make it clear the 4-1 pipe, and left it that way when the K7/8 showed up. If you fit the later kickstart lever, it bumps into your right leg (like on the later bikes) and becomes annoying on those 1000-mile day rides.

You will probably also notice that your kick lever is bent outward slightly when parked at the top: they would bend this first little bit after hitting the footpeg the first time, then not bend any further. VERY common...
