Alright, good enough!

Last night I did some wet sanding on the tail. I went a little too far in one spot (trying to remove a small blemish) and had to reshoot the silver in one spot. Once that was fixed, I moved on to the tank. Got the tape laid out to mimic the original paint scheme. Then shot it with black. If the paint is cured enough tonight, I'll mask it again and get some silver shot on the tank. I'm hoping to get some pics tonight. As is, pics of a tank that is half masked and half black just seemed boring.

I also got the Dyna coils and spark plug wires in yesterday. Add that to the Dyna S ignition I already picked up and I got spark on lock down. I picked that up from http://www.motorcyclesolutionsllc.com/. I found the shop on ebay and contacted them directly. John was a great guy to deal with and let me know that the coils were a few days out, and even filled me in when they were on their way. I'm real happy with the transaction.

Got some more painting done last night. I'm not sure I'm loving the design, but I think I'm just gonna go with it for now. A tank is easy enough to repaint later.

Of course I had to throw it on the frame.

It felt like it was missing something, so I shot some black at the tank badges and popped the orange jewel "F" off the side emblem and got this....which I'm feeling better about.

More wet sanding, and I'm hoping to finally shoot some clear coat this weekend, so I can start reassembling the chassis.

I know it's been said, but I will say it again, that tail is awesome.

Specifically, i'm really digging that it's unique and has lines that absolutely flatter and accent the lines of the bike. Well done, sir, well done!

The motor is sitting in the corner, waiting to get ripped into. I've gotten side tracked with the other project going on in the garage. A '72 cb500 with a CBR swing arm and mono-shock. I'll post some pics of that once its back to being a rolling chassis.

I finally had a chance to shoot clear coat last night. The picture doesn't do the tank justice. I still have to finish shooting the frame. After that, I can finally start to assemble this thing.

Should have the Race Tech stuff today. I just have to get some time to clear coat the lower forks. I decided I would paint and clear coat the headlight bucket at the same time, but I had to smooth out a few gouges in it first. So...end of the week and into the weekend, I might make a lot of progress.

Help me decide... Red headlight bucket or black with a red stripe just behind the headlight ring?

I was thinking of doing it black with about a 3/4" thick stripe of red, wrapping the bucket, right behind the ring. So, it would mimic the tail a bit.

Another new part on the way... I hate to admit I spent $60 for it, but knowing I have new seals, no leaks, a clear screen, and a clean part is, well, worth it on this bike.

I should have new pics up tonight or tomorrow. If I don't get side tracked with the roommate's bike, I'll be ripping into my motor. And I have pics of the headlight bucket and a few other things to upload.

Alright, a few little things to add...

The top triple clamp has been painted and drilled for gauge mounting.

And the headlight.... Tough to get pics of this that do it justice. The bad? I scratched the inner mounting ring for the bulb. So, right at the top, there are two chips in the paint. Meh.

At this point, everything that is "done" is going into the house, so nothing is damaged while working on the other bike or my motor. Once the engine is done, I'll flip it on its side and lower the frame down over it to get it mounted. Much easier than lifting the motor into the frame, probably scratching it. Otherwise, I'd be assembling it as a rolling chassis at this point.
