Make, year, model? Whatsit?
« on: December 18, 2010, 07:40:22 AM »
To tell the truth, I've looked at this photo for years and never really noticed the bike.  Now that I have, it bugs me;  there's something weird going on here?
What are the extra springs on a girder about?  Rear shocks?!  What's the engine (I thought Indian air filters were on the left)?  Etc.

Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Looks like a highly modified Sports Scout, with homemade swingarm..

Seen some cool old pics in Life.. got one from the 4late 40s with bikes in them including a few hillclimber pics..

got some original pics somehere around here of some modified Harleys from the 20s,... actually probably some of the first bob jobs...

Like Frank said, looks like a Sports Scout, but I'm thinking it looks like a Chief Engine, There were some of those out there, back in the day.

My first thought was they looked like Chief heads/jugs, they may be.. but the lower end looks like a Sport Scout by the front motor mount.

There was a hot one they built called a big base motor that are fairly scarce, but I  dont know how to ID them..

 Sure looks hot-rodded to me...

Eddie,

Those forks look kind of like a early '30's Webb girder that would have been found on a Norton Model 16H. The Model 18 is similar, but the lower side plates are different. I'm looking for either if you find any in the flesh...  ;D

I hear ya Frank. The cylinders and heads were what I was looking at as well. I had forgotten about the "big base motor" and I don't REALLY know how to ID them either. At one time, my Dad would know, but he's not quite as alert on those things mow days.
