Site for Original OEM paint
« on: December 20, 2010, 03:55:44 PM »
another question folks, during my resto, looking for some original equipment paint. Specifically the Garnet Candy Brown for the 1977 CB750K. The only site I found is one that tells me to send my parts to them for painting, I'd like to get the paint and do it myself, if you know what I mean. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Take care and ride safe!

Try eMailing here. Many of us have gotten paint kits for the SOHC4's from him. Highly recommended. He may take some time responding, particularly it being the holidays.

Pick up the Yellow Pages (remember them?) for a town of 30,000+ that is nearest to you and look under Auto Parts until you find the ad(s) for the one or two shops that specialize in auto body repair and carries a national brand of pant (my guy is primarily a PPG supplier but also carries some HOK and Auto-Air-Color (waterborne crap).  Call your local guys and ask if they have the ability to match colors from parts.  If they don't already have the paint code some will have a wonderful machine that I know as little about as I do the propulsion systems of flying saucers, but it can scan your tank and give an exact mix to match your color.  Do the scan someplace like under the tank where the old paint hasn't faded.
