Thanks for the scouting report Kevin!  Let's keep it in mind for now. As the date gets closer, you can call the ball on the better meetup spot. Sorry you can't make the Gilmore too.

Yes, it was an AWESOME day for a putt thru the countryside with 120 of ur best buds!  The mrs & I rode 2-up on an oldwing. I had a relay flag on the back, but no one asked why I had a lizard on a bike as a flag LOL!

Sean, were you on that cafe'd 750?  The one with a "bed-o- nails" where the seat should have been?  Dang man!  Talk about iron butt!  I buzzed by that machine a couple of times trying to meet the owner.  Are you planning to be at/in the show tomorrow?

Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.

I remember that gold bike!  its SWEET!!

I left last Saturday for a little "equipment check" ride... got home Sunday evening after 800 miles and everything is ready for the relay!  I also gave my boss our estimated schedule and received a two week window to play hooky in.

Even though I've had my bike running for a little over a year, I learned 4 important things on my ride:
1) When riding for extended periods of time, clubman bars are most comfortable above 60. :)
2) My rain suit quickly disintegrated at speeds greater than 70.  >:(
3) My bike is capable of about 110.  ;D
4) Hitting a dragonfly at that speed generates enough force to crack a turn-signal lens.  :o

There is some minor road construction up here but we should be able to bypass it.

An Eastern Upper Peninsula route update and suggestion.

I was looking at the U.P. route map and wanted to suggest a tweak. The section of M-123 that goes northward from M-28 at Eckerman through Paradise and Tahquamenon then back to Newberry can't be done this year as a loop as the road is closed West of Tahquamenon for bridge construction.

I'd therefore suggest saving Tahquamenon/Paradise for next year and instead take M-28 straight to Seney then turn right on M-77 and ride North to Grand Marais and then west to Munising on County Rd-58. This little jaunt will add no more distance than the Paradise loop would have and includes picturesque Grand Marais, and a freshly paved, twisty, scenic route through the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on Co Rd. 58.

I just did this a couple of weeks ago and was sporting a perma-grin for the full length of Co. Rd. 58.

Ratracer, I agree, clubman bars get more comfortable the faster you go.

Perhaps we can arrange for Godzilla to meet "The Dexter Bear," our local celebrity when the route swings this way.  ;D

These dates are 90% for sure.  We'll be taking off from Kazoo early on July 27 to camp that night at Interlochen. Ride to Sault Ste. Marie on the 28th to camp in Fuzzball's back yard. On the 29th we head for Copper Harbor to camp/hotel at Lake Fanny Hooe (snicker).  On the 30th we head to Cycle-X for the handoff to Team North. Camp that night at Cycle-X.

Return home either via Chicago (overnight at Scramblers place) or back thru the UP to the bridge & down. Sean is taking the Chicago route, I'm not sure on my return route yet.

As for picking up GZ in Detroit,  that date is yet to be determined (hoping for the 23rd). From Detroit, we'll ride thru Hell to Kazoo.  Hold GZ in Kazoo until the 27th. Overnight accommodations in Kazoo are available both following the Det pickup and the night of the 26th for anyone riding North.

You are welcome to ride as much or as little of the route as you wish!!  If you would rather hotel it instead of camp, you are more than welcome to do that too.  I'm traveling with the Mrs & dog in a sidecar. Depending on weather, we may hotel it some too. I'll be on my 550 for the Detroit run tho so that I can get in a few Zilla Miles on a SOHC4 too!

I've got my physical scheduled for the 27th.  I'll see if I can reschedule it.  Otherwise I might have to catch up with everyone after.

Alright!  I got the ok from the boss to take off the days listed and after a little carb tweaking last weekend, my bike is running great.  I'm getting really excited!

Two questions:
1) Who wants my phone number so I can find you trolls when I get to Interlochen?
2) What time should I plan to arrive at the diner near the campground?

I'm still thinking I'm in for a full circle around Lake Michigan. I would probably come up to Kzoo on the Tuesday.

Dave, How 'bout the Sparty statue on MSU's campus around 10:30 - 11:00?

Rat, I'll PM ya my phone # in a bit.  Dinner will prolly be at the brew pub in Grayling (can't remember the name).  Camp site is at Cycle-Moore.  I haven't figured a time yet for dinner.

Danny, It's going to be EPIC!! Hope to see you in Kazoo on the 26th!
