Just a little news. If you notice Old School's heading, it has changed just a little. In attempting to seek volunteers for the Regional Coordinators I have come up a little short in a couple regions so I thought that realigning might help. There are a couple guys in E Canada that have said they may be able to help but currently have other things on their agendas that must come first and I fully understand. I'm hoping that they'll be able to volunteer when time permits. What I have attempted to do here is have Old School pick up NB, QC and ON at least temporarily to go along with MI. He will not be riding north of the border so the Canadian riders should still be deciding what rides they will do and coordinate the hand off, etc with Old School. I hope you guys find this acceptable for now. It's getting closer to the beginning and I just wish to tie up some loose ends. Any questions, ideas, etc please contact myself or Old School.

Thanks to all for your efforts and participation. We can't do it without you!

Something that is becoming quite obvious to me though, its that a ride from Kalamazoo to Marquette in one day is prolly unreasonable.  This is supposed to be fun and relaxing and not a Pony Express reenactment!

I'd like to propose that we add an overnight in Gaylord.  This would impact Seanbarney41, me and RatRacer who was going to meet us in Gaylord.  Would also impact any HondaChopper riders too.  It should also allow us to pick up M-88, Paradise and Taquamenon Falls on Day 2.  Gents, what do you think about adding the overnight in northern Lower Peninsula, making for 2 relaxing days in the UP?
Fine by me

I would tend to agree on the length of a ride from Kalamazoo to Marquette. The distance would be similar to Ann Arbor to Marquette which takes a pretty good 8 hours by car. I might suggest using Route 2 along the north shore of Lake Michigan at St. Ignace and then turn north on Rt. 117 through Engadine. Any further west than this on Rt. 2 and you move away from the lake. Pretty nice along the shore.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Thanks for the tip Bob!  At the moment, I'm thinking of running up 123 to Paradise and Taquamenon Falls.  I don't know if we can get bikes close 'nuf to the falls for a photo op (anyone know?) but maybe!  I'm building a few loops or wide arcs into the route that can be cut out if we find time or weather is a problem.  So a straighter run to Marquette such as this is possible!

By the way Bob, we'll be passing right through A^2 if you want to putt for a few miles or a few days!  ;D

My wife and I vacation at Lake Gogebic almost every summer. It's another 2-2.5 hours west of Marquette. We use to go north out of St. Ignace and take 123, then on through Newberry. Faster  ;) but kind of boring. In the last few years we've gone Rt. 2 for a bit since it is better scenery. It's been a while since we have been to Taquamenon Falls, but my recollection, such as it is  :), is that you can't get that close to the falls with a vehicle.

I'll watch for the schedule, and if around, would like to keep someone company for a few miles.

Team Michigan, see the first post of this thread for updates!  Let me know if I got anything wrong.

Rat: You are our tour guide for the UP.  What do you think of the changes up there?
Dave & JP:  Can I count on y'all to come up with possible better routing and landmarks in central troll land?

Team Eastern Canada:
I'm going to try to build a similar post to this thread's first post for y'all over in the Easter Canada team thread.  I have a rider list, but am WAY short on routes and landmarks!  Please send me your ideas!

Oh yeah, fo sho.  ;D

Is this on a map somewhere yet? I want to make sure I understand where you have the plan exchanging roads. Been a while since I've been on some of these roads especially in certain spots. I'm breaking out the map this week for a refresher course anyways.

JP,

There is a link on the first post of this thread that has a working map on it showing route and possible stops.  Let me know where it needs tweaking!

Just took a better look at the tentative route map through Michigan. The Ann Arbor stop references the U of M Stadium and 503 Thompson St. If the stadium is the goal, it's not at that location.  ;)

P.S. Whoever is driving the leg into Ann Arbor, could you bring along a good football coach? We would be forever indebted to you.  ;D

Yea, I simply threw a dart at the map in the general area of each landmark.  Hopefully the dart landed close 'nuf and the stadium will be large 'nuf to see!  ;D

I do plan to create more precise directions once the route is final.

Maybe I'll have to let Brady Hoke borrow "The Wolverine" for his first home game.

Yeah, that was the big news yesterday. Just hope the team doesn't acquire the nichname "The Hokies."  ;D On the other hand, as long as they can gather 109,901 fans each home Saturday, nobody will care.  ;)

Hey guys, tentative dates(Jerry emphasized that they are still tentative)are up.  Initially, we are looking at July 7-12.  It's kinda hard to find the schedule, Old School, maybe you know how to post a link to that pdf file.

Also, I had an idea that if we are gonna be camping in Gaylord, maybe we should spend the night here instead.

AWESOME Find Sean!!  I'm not stuck on Gaylord, other than the 30-foot beer bottle.  But hey!  That campground/store/shop/museum looks to be a better fit with our theme anyway!

I like the idea of shifting the Gaylord overnight to Interlocken.  Does anyone disagree?

P.S.  I'll work on getting a link to the schedule PDF up on post #3 with al the other info.  I put a Honda dealership short list on there the other day by the way.
