Loving the way the western UP and Cycle X visit has suddenly blossomed into a must-do destination! It'll be a real treat to check out Ken's digs and some of the that high end 750 hardware.

(Might have to break out my Detroit Lions attire just for this trip! ;D ;D  )

Ha, ha, if you are going to the western UP, might want to have some Green Bay togs with you just in case, for personal safety.  ;D
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

The Lions attire would be appreciated actually---Detroit has been a non-threat for so long there's no real rivalry.
Were I a Bears fan, however, I might think twice about showing my colors.  :D

.. but there might be some Wisconsin high schools that would like a crack at them.  :D

Hey LunchBox!

Welcome to the forum and to the relay!  The current route will pass within a wisker of Leslie, so I hope you can jump on the ride.  Maybe meet us in Hell (too damn fun to say that!!) or you can join in as we roll past you.  Here is the work-in-progress map:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=212639289406289974048.00049716f0cc34cd3d621&z=6

If we have the time, perhaps we could hit BOTH breweries you mention.  I'm hoping to hit Dark Horse in Marshall on Day 1 also.  The attraction to Big Buck in Gaylord is the 30-foot beer bottle.  That should make for a GREAT backdrop for photos.

Stay tuned for final routes and dates.  There is the possibilitiy we may go to Allen Park to pick up Godzilla, then hold up in Kalamazoo for a day or three so that the UP and Cycle-X timing can get nailed down.  If we hold in Kazoo, you could meet us in Hell (YES! got in a DOUBLE!!) then catch us again as we roll through Lansing.  Just a thought.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Riders, please post your logs here:

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=85509.0

Be as detailed or brief as you like, but please share any eventful moments of your ride, interesting people you may have met, what you liked the most, etc. Don't need lots of pictures, maybe one of the handoff or maybe a group shot of the riders you were with for however far you were able to ride. You don't necessarily have to be the one that carried the baton, but you do have to have already ridden in order to post there.

Please reserve that thread for RIDER LOGS ONLY. Comments to the riders logs there would stretch that thread out to be quite large long before the relay nears completion. By keeping that thread limited to RIDER LOGS ONLY should help improve readability for many of our forum members. I have renamed the "Godzilla Sightings in Daytona!" to "Godzilla Sightings in Daytona AND BEYOND". Please continue to use that thread for posting comments, quick updates, creative pictures of Godzilla, expanding upon the unfolding story of Godzilla's adventures, (almost) anything goes in that thread. Please reserve the Rider Log thread for factual reports and rider's insights only. Our forum moderator will be deleting comments from the Rider Log thread to help promote it's linear progression as our Relay moves forward.

Enjoy the ride guys, Godzilla's comin your way!

Hey MasterChief!

We'd love to have ya along for the ride!  Day 0 is there for SeanBarney41 and I to travel to Allen Park to pick up Godzilla.  I called it Day 0 because we won't actually have IT during that segment.  It will be a morning ride, I'm guessing, as I'd like to meet Team Ontario around noon.  Maybe you can meet up with us ride to the handoff  then ride with us to Hell and beyond!

I'm getting the feeling that a stop at Spikes needs to get worked into the route.  If nothing else, to pick up a few growlers for the campsite!

I noticed on the map the route includes Hell, MI. It's not far from Ann Arbor and I ride through/near it fairly regularly. Outside of being able to say, "we rode to hell," or some such, don't expect much. Whatever you do, don't blink. You might miss it.  ;)

Sounds like Mad River on highway 36 Bob. Its the one that made that top 15 roads list. I lived there for 1/2 year back in the late 70's. The sign said Mad River...population 35. The sign on the other side of town was maybe 2 blocks from there. There was a building that housed a bar, general store, & a post office and there were 2 gas pumps in front of it. If you blinked.....you missed it for sure!!!

Yep! that pretty much describes Hell, Michigan too.  Except no post office and the general store only sells Hell related tee shirts and knick knacks.

Added Spike's in Gaylord for dinner on Day 2.  Day 2 route needs tweaking as it's kinda long.  I'm hoping to pick up some Grand Rapids riders with the lunch stop in Greenville.  If GR riders don't speak up soon we'll skip Greenville.

Now that the World Tour is underway, does anyone have any idea when it will get to Michigan?

'fraid the dates are still up in the air.  The time ball is currently resting with Team Central Rockies.  They have a choice between riding straight through or holding for one week.  Hopefully they will resolve the issue and the time ball can move to Team Central.

Hey All!

I know a number of you have already popped for a patch or three, but in case you didn't know, Nortstudio is putting together another batch of 50 patches.  If you want in, send a PM to Nortstudio.  Here is his announcement:

Hey folks!  I'm In the process of pricing out patches for the World Tour Relay and Rally.

THE PHOTO BELOW SHOWS THE FINAL DESIGN, COMPLETE WITH CORRECT HONDA FONT, AND THE SIZE THAT WILL BE PRODUCED.

IT LOOKS AS IF THEY WILL BE ABOUT $8/each.  This is being run non-profit, so if I can get it for cheaper, the savings will be reflected in the final price. It looks as if we were able to work into the price, a free patch for all the coordinators who have spent so much time on this awesome project/event.

We will do paypal to my account (as long as I don't have trouble with this many payments!), and I will front the cash to the embroidery place. I'll send them in a regular envelope, and the stamps are on me!

So, to clarify:
1. Who wants patches?
2. How many patches at $8/each

Hey, if my bike's finished by the time the tour hits Michigan I'd love to join in too. I live near Grand Rapids, so I'd join from day 2 to day 5, if you'll have me.
