Got the wing out today. Started slow but ran great (like me). Did't break the ton, didn't have enough clothes on.
Enjoy the ride!

You may not know that a a Rally is taking place. SOHCs will be taking a lap around North America. It will be historic. It is not a iron butt, all you have to take the Gnome or whatever from another rider, and hand it off to the next rider. If you can take Pics, they will be posted on a special website. You can ride as long or a short as you want. We have a gap here in the Mid Atlantic we have to fill. Massachusetts is probably covered.  PM Me

Be a part of history!!!!!!!

PS. It is a good way to meet chicks, I will tell you how to do it.  ;D

Paul, Yes I am. As well as the Classic Wing Club. My attitude is Life is too short to ride new bikes and drink cheap beer. I only have a "new" bike ('88 Honda VT800C Shadow) to ride when the old bikes are in the maintenance side of the shop. I would enjoy being your "wing"man in the PA, MD legs. I get the part about carrying Godzilla on a Honda SOHC in line 4.

I received this message from Popwood who is willing to help us get some media coverage. All who will be taking pics should consider his offer, an event like this may never happen again.

Hi, Everyone,

I'm forum member Popwood and have been given a green light by editor Richard Backus of Motorcycle Classics magazine to contribute regular ride news and updates to the magazine web site in the form of a blog. This may or may not evolve into a magazine article as the ride ends, but it very well may.

I'm contacting you as regional leader to see if you could help me with some details that will get the ball rolling for ride the publicity opportunity with Motorcycle Classics. What I need are some members of your ride team who can feed me information and good photos (or decent photos) about their leg of ride. I'd like to get something for every state and province. I'd need to get the material in a timely framework, within a couple days of a given "legs" conclusion as I intent to post updates to the blog at least twice a week if not more frequently.

Just so you know, I'm simply volunteering to do this and my goal is to just get the word out about the ride specifically and the forum in general.

Can you help me out?  I'd really appreciate hearing from you, especially those whose regions are starting in a week, very soon.

Bobby - maybe you should invite the Teutels to ride along. You could get on the show. Sr has a spot for the old 750's I believe!

I have a pretty good SLR that I plan to bring along on my part of the trip (NYC to wood stock - if plans with Bobby works within the framework of our area).  Also, i plan to bring a fairly indestructible point and shoot that I might be able to rig up to get some "action" photos.   I can certainly pass a long any good shots I get along the way.

It looks like this is going to happen on time, the first riders will be carrying IT out of Daytona Florida. I have been following their progress and the communication they have established and it looks really good.

When it will arrive in out region is something that we have to track, my gut says June, but I have been wrong before. I think we will need ride coordinators for PA, NJ and NY. We have to get the riders in those States talking to each other to plan out a SAFE and interesting route in which no one will be left out of participation.

Should I open another thread for each State, so that riders for those Staes can meet and plot out a route? The riders in each State can also figure out the handoff points within that State and ultimately the handoff point with the next State. You are not restricted to your State, you can ride into the next State to hand off or just continue riding.

How would you like to work this? Your thoughts please.

Bobby. I think setting up a state by state thread would help. That way it narrows down the people we all need to deal with in terms of schedule, routing and logistics.

Maybe there is some way to set up a google calendar with the names of available people, on any given day, so that we can easily adapt if the arrival date changes, we will be able to plan on who is available for a hand off?

Also, maybe each area (locations by hand off to hand off points - IE south jersey is one, north jersey another, southern NY, LI etc) can have a sub-contact, with you overseeing the big picture?  Maybe that's overthinking it too much.

Bobby,

Not sure if  a state by state thread is necessary, what is needed is a resource for riders to contact each other.  Like a list with area of residence...Larry

Yep, area of residence will probably do it.  Just need to break it into sections where the hand offs will happen.  I guess if everyone lists their locale, we can figure all that out with maps.

Is there also a list of places that the greater "team" is requesting we hit (like the orange county chopper deal)?  If so, I guess a list of those will help with the routing.

I live in southern Chester County and can pick IT up in Dover if there aren't any DE riders. There is a great scenic route along the DE  bay and then into PA, where ride could continue through scenic Chester County and maybe wind up in Matamoras via the Poconos or western NJ...Larry

I am in Bethlehem PA. I can head South and help out with the pick up below Philadelphia and ride up into either into New York or New Jersey depending on the route as long as they arrive before June 11th. I have a wedding planned for that date then will be off to Jamaica!  ;D

Bobby,

Are you going to set up separate threads for different area, or should we do that on our own?

Let us know so we can be posting our info in the right area.

Scott separate threads could get clumsy, I watched what the first team did and it looks like it is working. The problem has always been when  plugged the locations I had for every one at that time, it was all over the place. Folks know the local roads and interesting things to see. Once we start teaming things will fall into place.
