The Palisades sounds like a plan, it is fairly civilized and scenic. It is a fine route which keeps everyone on the West bank of the river which is where we would finally end up anyway.

You think you're funny? Some kind of wise guy?  How would you like season tickets in the north endzone of Giants Stadium?

I'm no wise guy, but I grew up in a town just north of secaucus that was FILLED with them! :)

In fact, years later they felt it appropriate to film some Sopranos there. No coincidence.

Great food though!!!!

Thank you, Baron.  There's a rough idea that that I might be lucky enough to pick IT up in Thurmont and carry IT to photolar at Conowingo Dam.   Where IT comes from, I don't know.

And the ride is sometime in June, the bike's still covered for winter, gotta file tax returns, gotta fix the porch, my boss don't like me, dadadada... so it's really sketchy.

Hell no, everybody who want to ride can ride. We just need some creative routing and you seem to be in a good spot.

Baron, There is somewhat of a void in your area, I am picking IT up at the Ohio/Pa border and heading south east toward Md. I'm hoping to hand IT off somewhere in your general area. If you can help, please let me know.

Finally, another rider from western Pa. I was starting to think I had bad breath or something. The proposed route is to pick  IT up at the Sharon Quaker Steak and Lube. Probably take it to my place, then head out east the next day. I hope I can find someone in western Maryland to hand IT off to.

Paul, what happens at a Quaker State steak and lube?  I get dinner while my oil is changed?  It's a bad joke, I have no idea.

Thank you for bringing IT into PA.

I heard a requirement is to bring IT into Washington, DC, but the routes avoid the District, as it should.  I avoid DC.  And the rough map avoids it too.

Anybody know if the schedule will be bumped for a DC run?

QS&L is a restaurant chain that started in Sharon Pa. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quaker_Steak_and_Lube  They have a great bike night there on Wednesdays and some of the best wings around. It just happens to be conveniently located close to the Ohio/ Pa line and I thought it would make a good hand off point.

As far as I know only one person from the DC area has expressed interest in taking IT into DC. I haven't heard anything since. I don't think that I'd like to ride inside the beltway, but there could be some good photo ops if someone has the guts to try it. ;)

Oh boy, this sounds like my place "Customers must sign a liability waiver before ordering the Triple Atomic or Atomic, freeing Quaker Steak from any liability."

Agreed, Washington, DC central  is a place to be avoided, as a creed.

Are the photo ops in Washington, DC paid like a gazillion dollars, as they should be?

Change of forum name I'm assuming with a familiar avatar?! Do we have you on the rider list under your old forum name? Don't remember what that was? I'll add you or change your listing. Please provide details via PM as I don't scan the individual threads all the time.

Up to you (or who ever is riding there).  No need to go where it isn't wise.  Just nick a corner of the district if ya can.  In my mind, "one full revolution of the rear tire on which Godzilla is riding" constitutes an official visit to me!

Hey Team Mid-Atlantic!

Team Central is narrowing in on a list of overnight locations and dates for their portion of the relay.  Y'all are next up to do the same.

Do you have a list of overnights at this point?  Maybe a sprinkle of track, museum or vendor stops?  Adding dates can be done once you and Team Central decide on a date and location to meet for the handoff.

Is Woodstock, NY your intended location for the handoff to Team New England?

That is correct Team New England would like the hand off at the actual Woodstock concert site.

I agree that anyone stay out of an area they feel unsafe riding. So far there have been no injuries and I pray there are none. there are roads and areas I will not ride without very good reason.

It looks like we have all of the holes filled, so we can pull this off. The time has come that we begin to get our act together and come up with a workable route.

If the current timetable is correct IT could be in our region in June. if they ton it up in the West and Mid West maybe even sooner.

I have read some interaction between riders which is great, now need to ask you folks to step it up and start working with the folks in your region. Please start roughing out a route and stops. I will start PMing people who expressed interest but have been silent so far to see if they are still on board.

As a former actor said FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION !!!!!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I just saw this place - it's about 40 miles south of the Woodstock site for the handoff.  Could provide some good photo ops.

I'm more than willing to roll through DC, especially since I live in the district.  I have two family re-unions to attend at roughly the same time though, so a guarantee of participation isn't guaranteed.

Picking up in Western MD would work as well, if needed.

I live in Frederick, MD, which is about 30 miles East of Hagerstown. Thurmont is about 15 miles north of me.

I am not sure if my 400F will be finished in time, but I will have my 360 chop. Let me know if I can be of any help. Otherwise, I am definitely just down for the ride.
