I have to say I'm a little jealous of the ferry part of the trip.  Would definitley make for some great photos!

Yeah we are finally getting it together. Jon can you throw up a quick Google map of your planned route so we can start making the meet up points. Dude you wanna take a Ferry, take a Ferry. This is a riders ride, made by and for the riders!

The ferry is the same if you are in a car, on a bike or a walker.. If we did that, then we'd have to go up the Parkway or Turnpike.  I am no more than an hour west of Philly.  We can cover 3 states in a 15 minute ride from my house, where riders would be welcome to stay as I have a fair size house, full garage/shop...Larry

Don't throw in the towel yet!  Team Central is finalizing their dates now, then it will be Team Mid-Atlantic's turn.  By building in a few pad days, say in Philly, nice and central to your region, you may get a chance to take the Lizard out on the town for some no doubt AWESOME photo ops!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

I knew that the ferry might throw off the riders that wanted to head closer to the western NJ/eastern PA route.  makes sense.  We might need to schedule a different trip so we can do that ferry ride!

GZ has been on one boat ride already, across the St. Johns River in Mayport (East Jacksonville, FL) which also happened to be MY first boat ride while riding a motorcycle. I highly recommend it! We need picts since my picts of the ferry crossing were lost when I lost my camera on the return trip.

Hi. Bobby,
Where are you located? I'll be part of the ride from the GW bridge up the Palisades to the Bear Mountain Inn.

Doug, I am up in Northern Westchester about 20 minutes from the Park. I tend to go that way a lot since the roads are more mellow. There are a lot of bikes on the roads so the car drivers are more aware of you.

Oh yeah we should have a nice ride. I may scout some of the route, see what looks interesting.

I'm new to riding and don't have many hours on the road so i'm trailering my bike to the Palisades and then riding to the Inn and back down. Figured the route would be ok since there are no trucks and only 2 lanes.

Doug, whatever you want to do is OK. When we leave Bear Mountain we will be on Rt 9W which is a pretty decent road. You can ride as far as you feel comfortable. We will not be on Interstates.

If you want, we can meet up near me, here in brooklyn, if you want to take the ride in.  I think there may be a few more brooklynites that chime in before this whole thing is in our area.

I was trying to stay away from city traffic and crossing over a bridge. I only have a few hours of seat time. I took a 3 hour course and got my licence. I enjoy working on my bikes more than riding. The Lookout on the Palisades would be a great place to trailer my bike to and meet with you guys for the ride up. Meeting you in Brooklyn sounds great but  might be a little more that i'm ready for.

Didn't realize that you were trailering.  I was thinking you might be more comfortable inna group ride over the bridges.

No need to take it to a place you don't feel comfortable.  I'm sure you will be great on the Palisades, it beautiful and will be mellow (especially surrounded by fellow riders).

Gonna be a blast.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. No trucks, 2 lanes and fellow riders. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone. Are you near the Works Engineering?
Do you go to their bike meet?

Never been to their meet, but I only live a few blocks away.  Nice folks down there.

Just sold some parts tonight to a guy who used to work there.

Looks interesting. All kinds of bikes.
