Jerry, I'll be at Atlanta Dragway on the 12th March and at Rockingham NC on the 18th to 20th.
I could take the batton down the strip to it's shortest and fastest leg of the journey. ;D ;D ;D

Good luck guys. Ride safe.

Sam. ;)

I saw the post! Drones is working hard on getting his riders set to go. You were thinking the same thing I did. Hopefully this will work out!

Bluezboy - Atlanta (will go Columbia to BRP) CB750
     SamCB750A - Rockingham March 18th to 20th

Numbers indicate you are on Jerry's master list.  If you are not, shoot him a PM so he can update it.  If I missed you, let me know that also.

"Bluto" , "Blueridgerunner" ' "DHall57" , "BlackHog02" , "Bollingball" , "MarkCB750" , "MyGunsBigger" , "Bender01" , "Wardenerd" , "Nikkisixx" , "Tugboat" , "Spanner1" , "Asom Bluezboy" , "Don R" , "Travi-i" , "SamCB750A" , "drones76"

The itinerary below was posted in the original post above.  So far it seems that we have the majority of riders that fill it in nicely.  There have also been some good suggested routes to avoid the interstates.  I figured that within our 6 state region we should also have handoffs because nobody is going to complete the entire region.  Using points near or in cities seems to make the most sense.  Each city listed below will be loose connection points.  We may find that we have two people handing off at an in-between point.  That is fine.

The entire region can still have some changes if the personel changes drastically.  Right now, this is what it will look like(below).  I am open to any and all suggestions.  We have a couple of anchor riders that will be taking parts of two or three of our legs.  That makes it easier to fill in around them.

If any info above is incorrect, please let me know with a PM so I can change it.

We are figuring out the handoff to the next leg.  We may have a rider join us for the end of our leg or one of our riders may head into theirs...or both.  More overlap is better.

For anybody that will be at Bike Week, please let me know.  That is also a place that I would like some overlap.  Overkill if needed.

Nikkisix has offered for anyone in the Charlotte area to get together to discuss the details of the region including dates and days needed for each part of our region.  If you are close enough and interested, we would like to get that together soon.

I realize that some great parts of some states are not covered.  It is a shame.  The outerbanks would be great as the entire coast would also. We just will not have the manpower and the time to do it all.  Part of the Blue Ridge may include the Dragon, again if time and riders permit.

One more thing that will be needed is the bike you are planning on riding.  I do not have a SOHC-4 yet (the horror!) so I cannot be a mascot bearer.  Please PM the bike you are riding so we can be sure to cover the entire region with SOHC-4's.

Hey Bender,

These boys didn't want to wait for 2012 as I first thought would be necessary so I had to let them run with it. You'd better get that fire pit ready by the first week of THIS March  ;D

Hey,

I'm interested, just tell me when, where, what, and how I can help. Im from Columbia, SC. So I could show you the way through. I would be interested in the SC leg of the tour or maybe more if the dates allow. How many miles are we figuring per day?

Chad.

That sounds great! Im in from Sav to Charleston for sure. Let me know the start date as soon as possible so I can beg for a day off! My back yard is perfect for camping. St Pats is 3/17 thursday, I would avoid Savannah that day as a suggestion. Ill ride my 550 or a 750! Drones76 I have a road ready 78 750f for sale! Just has weepy head gasket. If it hasnt sold Ill ride that! Yes Ill take a good bit less than the C/L add. ;D

Hey Leg1!!

Sounds like y'all are getting things organized pretty well!  Congrats on that!

I know you have a firm start date in Daytona.  It also looks like a pretty good understanding of routes and ride days.  Any thought on when you will be handing off to Team KY?  I'm hoping we can work hand-off dates forward through the regions so that those of us planning legs later in the year can get rough ideas on our planning dates.

Any light you can shed will be GREATLY appreciated!

Waiting to hear back from our potential starter.  I believe he is military, so he may not have communications right now.  He has not been online here since the new year.  If there is anyone, anywhere in Florida that can connect with our GA participants, post it here.  I am looking to get a backup plan if a start at Daytona does not work out.  Even a guy close to the GA/FL border that can dip into FL and head north to meet with the Savannah contingent.  Not in panic mode yet, just trying to get some alternate plans in place.  Regarding timing and days for the region, that is still tough to say without a concrete starter.

And keep this in mind for hand-offs, if Leg 1 completes on a Monday and Leg 2 is not ready to start until Thursday, no big deal.   We just need to get the two to meet up to transfer the token and then Leg 2 can pick up when they are ready.  I figure there may be a lot of weekenders and we may get some delays between regions.

I have been trying to get a sponsor GPS to be handed from leg to leg in order to have it tracked online.  One company showed some interest then backed out.  If that does not work out, if someone out there can create a tracking map that can be linked here so we can see the progress daily or hourly that would be cool.

You guys are doing a great job communicating.  Stay in touch with each other and post your ideas here.  I would like to get a tentative schedule ironed out in the next week or so.  I realize everything moves along from here.  Like toppling dominos.

I'm just waiting to hear when the relay will be in Columbia for a handoff/meet.  We (Charlotte NC riders) would like to take it out to Sam in Rockingham on the 19th of March.  We would most likeley be able to hand off the next weekend on the Blue Ridge Parkway at say Fancy Gap?  Maybe around the 26-27?

Wow, I figured you would be overrun with Florida riders! I am in Saint Cloud, just South of Orlando. I typically head up to Bike Week for the final Saturday (March 12th this year). The Speedway can be pretty hectic but I do like checking out the vendor displays. My primary mission (this will be my 4th annual) is the burnout pit at the Iron Horse up in Ormond. From there highway US 1 (or is it A1A? I'll have to check) runs up through Ormond, Flagler, and St. Augustine. There are some historic sites in St. Augustine that might make for good photo ops. Let me know if you need a confirmed zero-mile originator, I can do it! I'd even be willing to swing by the Iron Horse and "burn one for the cause"! Daytona to Jacksonville would likely be the maximum extent of my range. Starting out early Saturday would put us in Jax late Saturday.

I'll e-mail you, drones, and I can at least ride along if you already have a starter.

I carry a spare, since I will burn it till it pops, then change the wheel right there so I can git-er-home.

Once I hear back from drones I'll know more. I'd like to kick things of from the speedway on Saturday, March 12th (if chosen to do so). Starting early at the speedway will allow enough time for a photo op at the Iron Horse burn pit and some photo ops up the coast, arriving in Jax late Saturday afternoon or early evening that same day. I'll plan on staying overnight in Jax and riding back home Sunday. That also leaves Sunday in case the weather goes foul, or we might could start on Friday if the weekend weather looks bad.

As soon as I get the word I'll get to work on routes/times/dates if I'm fortunate enough to be selected as the "Zero-mile" launcher!

I can pick it up at Fancy Gap and take it to Roanoke or thereabouts.

Sounds good Blueridgerunner!  Is the 27th good for you?  Sunday around noon is what I'd shoot for.

Sounds good. I'm retired so I'm pretty flexible
