It will be cold on the Parkway too, but I hope we have nice weather for Sam at Rockingham!

I'm only coming for a bit of sunshine. ;D -3c this morning, had to de-ice the car. >:(

Sam. ;)

Cool crisp air makes for a happy Honda, and neither you nor your bike would like it here in the Summer.    ;)
Looking at the schedule for Saturday the 19th, your class (Street ET) begins at 10:00 AM.  Have I got that right?

Not looked ::) ::) ::) We'll be there the day before (and night probably) so should find out then but will take a look if it's online. We'll be in Pro ET, the street guys are scared sh1tless of Auto Hondas and demanded that the organiser ban them all, talk about spit ya dummy out. ;D ;D ;D (hope none of them see this) just jesting. :D :D :D
I lived on the MS coast back in the 80s and it was allmost to hot in winter. ;D ;D no pleasing me. ::)

I had to double check your build thread to see what you created.   ;D ;D ;D  F@3kit - the purse is bigger in Pro ET anyways  ;)

They have Pro and Street ET scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday.

http://www.rockinghamdragway.com/flyers/2011/mirock/

The Charlotte crew will be meeting up around 7:30 that morning which should put us in Rockingham around 9:30.   If your track days are like most you'll be all asses and elbows in the pits for the first few runs.  Hopefully you'll have time to lash the "Mascot" to your bike for a run   ;D

It is a proven fact that modifying a SOHC Honda in any way will bring on the apocalypse.

I just signed up to the forum after hearing about the relay from MC. I am in Occupied Virginia about an hour out of WV. I have a '77 naked Old Wing (it is a SOHC 4, just horizontally opposed not in line) that wants me to find out when y'all will be up this way and if we can help the cause. Could possibly even help with accomodations if I can convine the wife (spare room, pull out sofa bed, old bike barn with tools (wife has no say here), within 20 miles of two Honda dealers). Thanks.

Welcome to our insanity! One weak link we have is the ride between VA and KY through WV. That's the handoff from Team SE Coastal to Team Southeast. Only 2 riders that I know of. I'm sure they'd love to have some company. How about touching base with Team Southeast too and see if our Lexington, KY rider can use your help. Not sure how much you'd like to ride but there's always room for one more  ;D We do not have any West Virginia volunteers.

Rally Coordinator

ps remind me to get you added to the list when you determine your ride status
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Allright! Finally got some company! However far you want to ride is fine, there should be some good photo ops in St. Augustine if you can go that far. You would have heard from me soon since I plan on contacting as many of the Florida members as I can to see if I could drum up some more participation.

Glad to have you onboard! I'll be contacting members as we get closer to exchange cell phone numbers and confirm schedule dates.

You'll be in fine company riding with Peter (Peterbylt) on the first leg. 8)
He's a real ugly mother but he's my mate and I love him. :D :D :D
I rode with Peter from Tampa up to Valdosta GA. It was a great ride but keeping up with him was a nightmare ;D ;D ;D The bigest problem was that you Ameicans all ride on the wrong side of the road, ::) the only thing I can thank you lot for is, you copied our drag strips and you run the same two lanes in the same direction. :D :D :D :D :D :D
Have a safe ride guys and God be with you. 8)

Sam. ;)

I hope you haul Godzilla down the strip faster than you were driving on the way to Valdosta  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Not sure where Occupied is but I'm going to be heading from Charlottesville to Williamson,WV on 4/2 and would be happy to have company.  Might have a friend with me but not sure yet.  It's a LONG ride from home so might even make it into a 2-day trip...

Ha ha, If I'd known at the time I was trying to haul nearly 700lb with just 33bhp  ;D it didn't help trying to follow a little red tail light that kept disapering round bends, with hardly any lights and not a lot of brakes, it's a wonder you didn't have to slow down more often. It was good fun though. :D :D :D How's the Misses and them 3 monsters you call cats ;D ;D ;D
When Mike pulled the bike down, he said it was a miracle it made Valdosta let alone a pass down the strip ::) ;D
I hope it will be a whole lot different the next time down the strip, check out the video here Peter. http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=61876.625

I am in Loudoun County Virginia. I am actually closer to the Mid Atlantic Team so I will try there. I will see if I can get some time off to join you from Charlottesville,
Enjoy the ride!

http://s992.photobucket.com/albums/af44/bentonracing/?action=view&current=SamautoCB750A.mp4

It wouldn't stand a chance against the modern day 1 litre bikes Keith, and besides that, I'll be back home in April.
I would have brought it to the October event had it fitted into a vintage or like class.
I do have an idea for a class but will have to speak to people while I'm over, might be able to tell you next week.

Team GA. I was wondering about where you all were planning on stopping for lunch. I figured that would be an good time to meet up. From what  I have researched it looks like Sandersville GA is about 3 hours away from both of our starting locations. If we all leave around 10am this should put us all there around 1 or so. What are y'alls thoughts.

Time to start planning. Where does Madmtn want to meet in Savannah? WW2 memorial on River St? The Mighty Eighth Airforce Museum? That might be closer to his Hotel and right off I-95.  Food gas and plenty of parking. Theres an f-4? Phantom we could line up in front of.

Been by the airforce museum a million times, always wanted to stop there but never seemed to have the time. Where should we eat dinner? Pirate House? I always eat at Paula Deen's when im down that way.

The museum is great place to kill time, and its near the FL and GA riders routes. Paula Deens?? I wouldnt park my bike anywhere near her place. It will be dark by then anyway. We should get probably get to Bluffton. The Hampton has a few choices close by that are good. Monster pizza, and Grubys are good.

The museum sounds like a good place, we might be arriving around closing time since they are only open until 5:00 P.M.

I'll get my cell phone number sent out to you guys later today and maybe do some Google-walking around Savannah as well.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Leaving around 10am and stopping for lunch at 1pm is perfect. I can make it about 100-110 miles per tank. Don't like to push it much past that because my reserve does not work well. I am also good with meeting at the 8th Air Force Museum. As said before there are lots of gas stations and restaurants off that exit. It is also a good rally point if any of us get separated or lost on the trip down.

Today I've been trying to decide how I will mount my backpack to my bike. I need to bring my laptop because I will have to work a few hours overnight in the hotel. Since I don't have a backrest or luggage rack I cut a 11"x15" piece of 1/4" MDF. I attached a piece of 1" thick foam and wrapped it with plastic bags. I will slide it inside of my backpack use it for the base and support. Will also add some padding for my laptop.

I don't want to strap my backpack to my seat because on long rides I slide back on the seat and rest my feet on the rear pegs. I am 6' 3" so I need the space.  ;D

These are the different ways I have mounting my backpack today. I stuffed a few things in it to add mass but I will need to actually pack it with what will to take and try again this week.

Wow what a day.  I finally got fed up with the rust in my fuel tank messing up the works so I sent to a local radiator shop to be boiled out.  Well it looks 110% better then when I took it in, but the solvent didn't touch what looks like an old liner of some sort. :-[  But it also took the paint off the outside (I already knew that was gonna happen), and showed me that that tank wasn't as straight as I thought.  So I went to the shop I work at today and glass beaded the tank, and then filled and sanded all the dents, and got it in primer.  So now hopefully tomorrow I can get the carbs put back on (cleaned them for the fifth time), and also get the new chain on as well, then I'll address the packing question.  Gonna be a busy week.

I thought I was cutting it close....I just got my bike back together on Thursday and was able to put 60 miles on it. New front tire/tube/strip, new front brake pads/rebuilt caliper/new rotor(original is M.I.A), new clutch cable, tach cable seal, petcock bowl seal, fuel lines, and saddlebags. That should do it I believe. wanted to put some more miles on her before the trip, but it keeps raining here. I still need to shine her up.

P.S. I am going to be out of town from Tuesday a.m. to Thursday p.m. so dont worry about me if you dont see me on the forum. I will see y'all Saturday mid day if I don't die (first time flying....scared to death).
