Just left the Rock after watching Sam run.  He cut two great lights and looked good in all white leathers.  Good to see several of the North Carolina riders and put names with faces.  I saw some damn nice SOHC's today!  I think I will at least wash mine.

Silly of me to ask, I know, but no "rain dates" I'm guessing? 27th calling for 60% chance w/low 50's on the BRP.   :(

Man up!  I'll pass along some McGyver rain gear (trash bags and duct tape) along with Godzilla   ;D ;D

I'd like to wait a day or two and see how the forecast shapes up.  But I can stay flexible on the handoff and blow off some points of interest and meet you Saturday evening.  Any objections from the other North Carolinians?

Met up with MarkCb750, Nikkisixx, Wardenerd, and Sam and his crew at Rockingham Dragway today. I truly enjoyed meeting and talking to all of them. Like the old slogan goes You Meet The Nicest People On A Honda. Can't wait till next weekend meeting at Nikkisixx house and headed to the BRP. Going to be fun. Hope the weather holds up. Here's a view pics from the Rock

Here's Sam getting ready to take the 750 down the track, Yeah your right the round black thing on the side of the mtr. is a t/converter. The motor is a 76CB750A puttin out about 94HP Jon said. Man I wonder if they would let me swap motors on my K6 ;D

Thanks, I've got enough gear. Just didn't want to ride in the rain if others didn't. Hard to tell as the mountains often generate their own weather/fog.

Whose 750 is on the left in this photo? This is the bike that made me buy a sohc 750. It appears as if it has different handle bars now though.

The grey one with black stripes belongs to a fellow named Wes.  Mark and I met him while out on a ride a few weeks ago and invited him along on the relay.  I don't know a great deal about his bike but I can say it has a stretched swingarm, clubmans, and that nifty cross over exhaust.

I should be good with a little rain and cold but might be on my own instead of having a few others with me.  No biggie.  If it turns into torrential downpours that's another thing...

The forecast has gotten worse,  and my last two trips on the Parkway ended in a good soaking.  When it rains up there, it does not f@#k around.   >:(

Let us start planning on moving the handoff up to Saturday the 26th.  We have some slack in the schedule, we might as well use it!  Dhall and Wardenerd are meeting me and Markcb750 here in Charlotte at 10:00 AM on Saturday.  Blueridgerunner: lets meet at the same place, at about 5:00 PM?

Ah - the Bicentennial red CB750.  Having a red '76 is almost like owning a black Harley or a green Kawi  ;D ;D
Dhall has a very nice example as well. He met us in Rockingham and will be with us in the Blueridge this weekend.

So Sunday is calling for some potentially nasty weather around here but the wife hasn't said anything yet which means I can still take the hand-off.  I've got a new 1-piece rain suit and a NOJ Quiet Rider due to arrive tomorrow.  That plus some heat packs and common sense in the corners should make for a reasonably safe ride.

Anyone had problems riding in the rain with these old bikes?  I've never had the 550 out in more than a little drizzle and understand that Honda did design them to be ridden is some degree of weather but I just don't know where the line is.  My 2007 Suzuki doesn't much care what the weather is like but I just wonder if I need to silicon up some of the electronics since I'll be hours from home on my own in a very spotty cell reception area.

Thanks
James

I've been in water up to mid-calf through a big puddle and had no problem.  Make sure the gasket under the points cover is good - water and spark do not mix.  If you run pods, take along some duct

Have you been in touch with Blueridgerunner about a new and improved shcedule?  We moved it up a day to dodge some weather!

I've got the stock airbox on so no worries there.  Good call on the seal around the points cover.  Mine is pretty beat.  I'll cut a new one tomorrow just to be safe.

Blueridgerunner is going to meet me earlier on Sunday so I am not chasing daylight on the way back, especially in the rain.  They're callin for some possible snow showers up here on Sunday early so I'm going to have to get on the main roads quickly.  Suppose to warm up for the ride back so I can take the parkway and get some nice (even if overcast) shots.

I'm also taking the extra step of throwing the ramps in the back of the truck and printing out my route just in case I have to give the wife a call to come save me.  They're the old heavy steel ones and she'd have a hard time getting them into the bed.

Anyone had problems riding in the rain with these old bikes?

Having ridden in torrential downpours (Oklahoma, Texas, Mass etc), tropical depressions (Mexico), Alpine rain (Alps), Scottish rain (the worst of the lot) I can safely say they perform great in the rain! No problems! The rider on the other hand is a different matter :)

good luck
Andy

Rain might not be a problem now.  Looks like they're calling for a little of the white precip Saturday night into Sunday.  As long as it's just a dusting on the grass and the roads aren't getting slushy I'll keep us on schedule.  The wife is dubious at best but still hasn't called it yet...
