Offered a free CM450
« on: May 12, 2010, 12:44:50 PM »
Gotta drive maybe an hour to get it..........if I want it.
Honda CM450 "Custom" (whatever that means) don't know the year.

No title. Decent shape, know the owner.

Maybe turn it into a track only bike? I don't know.

What are your thoughts, experiences with these bikes?

Free is about the right price, but don't get your hopes up with the track bike idea.  I think this bike is a punch-out of the CM400, which was sloppy handling due to the cruiser design.

Grab it, the CB and CM twins are becoming fairly popular.  It probably won't make much of a track bike for sure.  If you can title it and make it an ugly runner without a big hassle it'll fetch upwards of $500 in most areas.  These bikes are pretty popular with the bobber crowd, but a few have caffeinated them.  If you part it and it's got good pipes and a good tank shoot me a pm.

The 'C' means it's got comstars... a 16" rear and an 18" up front, it's probably got a single disk front and a drum rear, and it's probably an 82 model.

my friend rides a cm400 through our canyons like its a cbr600. scares the #$%*e out of me, but he does it.  kinda a rad little bike. nothing you can't do with an air cooled twin, styling-wise.

Honda CM450 "Custom" (whatever that means) don't know the year.
"Custom" is a word used in Europe for bikes Americans like to call "Cruisers".
Many of the 80's bikes were sort of semi-customs, like the CB750C and CM400/CM450C etc. etc.
