If we can't get him moving I'm going to have to ask 1080 or 754 to ship him back home to me.  We should have been done by now.

I don't understand either of those statements. GZ was not in Seattle long enough to form a get together because you put the rush on. That's a regret I have. Several people have mentioned they would liked to have been in on meeting up. One of the biggest  reasons behind this is getting lost because GZ is being rushed. I gotta ask why? What's the rush?
I suggest we let the remaining PNW'ers have more get togethers if possible. To stop this now seems silly to me. If I had my druthers when GZ was here I would have kept him until a get together took place.

+1  Would have loved to participate if GZ would have been around longer than a day.

I'll back that up. If GZ needed to get to Vancouver, we coulda done it a lot easier than going to Okanogan. I could've had him in Vancouver a week ago.

Rat and everyone,

What I meant to imply was that GZ has gotten bogged down in other places as well but we have to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I've followed this since March 12th on a daily basis. It's all about planning and making it work. We've had a number of non-riders that had planned on going but were not able to for one reason or another. Some regions went fast while others just poked. From my experience since the inception I was concerned that we might have problems completing the final segment. You stepped up when others have not been able to. You and the others have pulled it off just as everyone before you. That's the nature of this and the many people involved. Often we've had talk but when it came time to ride the guys disappeared. One case in point is the Rider Log. Perhaps apathy, I don't know, but it has not been updated in perhaps a month. This is leaving a large gap in what has been a very entertaining blog. This creates issues for all the others down the line with you guys being at the end. I've always tried to get things moving so you guys don't have the late season weather issues. My hope and planning has always been to take approximately 6 months strictly due to potential weather issues. The eastern guys had their weather issues early while Teams CA and Rockies had our issues in mid stream. I rode through some crazy and dangerous conditions. Even dropped the loaner bike in pea gravel left over from Kansas snow. I've put many a mile on my bikes but perhaps not as much as some others. I've learned to respect mother nature especially while on 2 wheels. We've had single riders carry GZ VAST expanses in good weather and bad when the others were not able for whatever many varied reasons. I've ridden the US and Canadian Rockies with snow. It can be brutally cold AND dangerous as I'm sure we are all aware. I'd rather not have the less experienced riders get caught in bad conditions. This is my take and rationale for trying to keep this from stalling when it seemed that it could well happen at a less than perfect time. I try to light the fire but yet do it in a way that is not condescending while knowing full well that we are all different and hope I don't step on toes. If anyone feels I have, I apologize. I know no one can please everyone but we must try. (this sounds very grandfatherly  ;) )

I would like to thank you and all the others for the effort that has been put forward to make this happen. We're all one big team. What an amazing adventure!

I would like to thank you and all the others for the effort that has been put forward to make this happen. We're all one big team. What an amazing adventure!

The blog, from what I herd has died off because there are to many places going at once and nobody knows where to post. I posted where I thought I should but wasn't sure if I was right or not. Not everyone can keep up with every thread and know where it's all going down. I haven't posted millage and route for my ride because I'm not sure where to post it. Another reason the blog has dropped off is because some people just don't spend their days on their computers, they spend them riding or working. They might not have very good computers or what have ya.

I'm curious how you can say things have dropped off right after 754's pics and 1080's pics. All those pics were very entertaining to me and to others I'm sure.

I understand your concern for safe riding conditions for riders but I really don't see how you can impose your idea of what is safe. I live here, I know when to ride or not ride and so do the people who live here. As I'm sure the same can be said for any area.

We're 1 maybe 2 weeks away from everybody who wants to participate getting a chance, seaweb11 has mentioned when he can do it. Let's let him do it.

Jerry, please post links to the blog and where to post millage/ routes so we can all post in the right sections.

I think when it hits Vancouver even if its a weekday/workday.. some riders could meet it coming in.. its usually later in the day anyway
When I got back accross the border I met 2 bikes waiting for me.. about 1/2 way from the brder to home...

Well I would love to show him my F and take him for a short cruise before he heads off to the warm summer waters of down under. But if I missed my chance, I have only myself to blame. As I understand it, he's been touring North America on the back of our beloved vintage jap (said with the utmost respect) muscle for more than a year. Bad luck being at the end of the continent I guess. I'll catch him next year if it doesn't work out. Griff, you gotta do what you gotta do man. Sucks for us that may have missed him, but you can't please everyone all the time, and I know we'll quickly get over it, brother. Thanks to you and your regional leaders for making it happen.

You might be able to attend a meet up in Vancuver Canada if you're up for the ride. Shoot, if the stars align I might head up there.

I'm not Jerry, but it has been working pretty well to post your mileages here -

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=86686.0

Old school keeps track and updates the schedule.

The rider log is here -

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=85509.0

What Jerry may have been driving at is that until your post in the rider log on 9/18, the last one was 8/17 in Nebraska.  There has been a lot of relay after that but no posts so far.  Jerry said he'd like to see the posts there in chronological order, so that is one of the reasons I started my own thread for the last leg I did.  I'll move mine over there at some point when the legs before mine are filled in.

Those two threads are stickied at the top of the SOHC4 World Tour forum, so they are easy to find.

Yes, thanks Greg. You beat me back to the party. And also thanks for the input Rat, Your help has been greatly appreciated. Looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Hope you guys have as much fun as everyone else. Can't wait to see the pictures and reports.

If we can get the bare spots filled in that Greg alludes to, Motorcycle Classics wants to do a print article on the whole ride. One of my many concerns I've dealt with since early 12/2010 when I proposed this amazing and crazy venture.

The best part for me has been the friendships I have made and seeing the city guys get out on the road with these old bikes they have brought back. Long live our SOHC4's!

it snOWed on the pass the morning!!
Hey Greg, you forgot to say,
DONT MAKE ME COME UP TO FINISH THIS !!

 Thursday and Friday have highs of 16 & 18 degrees. I think 20 degrees is 68 F.

It will be very embarassing as the relay rides into Vancouver.. if there is more Americans (100+ miles from home!)than Canadians... starting to look that way though...

Frank,

Thanks for hangin' in there bro! Sorry I didn't have the extra day to meet you a couple years ago. One day! I now realize what I missed  :) That nasty day of solid rain on Gabriola Island in August kept Howard and I holed up with Seaweb. WAY too much time to drink  ;) That was our last spare day. Snowed on us the next day as soon as we pulled into Whistler. Better have the long johns and the nut sack warmer on standby. That way you won't need them haha. And that picture was a welcome sight - I didn't think before that you looked THAT good  ;D LMAO Always good to put a name and face/person together!
