DOH!!!  BORDER Crossings....:o

we gotta make it mandatory that once IT has been decided/constructed/built, and has left onthe journey, there can be NO MODS to it...EVER.

id hate to have someone be stopped at the border only to discover IT has been hollow'd out and filled with parsley!   ::)

Sounds to me like you guys have an excellent handle on this. That looks like a ride if I ever saw one. Do you guys have anyone in SW Oregon that you'd need to dip down and get in the ride too? Ofreen / Greg can get it to you. If we can dip "IT" down through Yellowstone then Wyoming is covered. We have a few/couple MT riders in addition to Greg and ndstrygrnngr to hopefully get all that area covered. We have a SE BC rider that can probably/hopefully/maybe cover Waterton/Glacier. There are a few SK riders that may be able to cover some/all AB. Now AB riders may be a different story.

Any Alberta riders out there that I don't remember??

I've crossed south at Osoyoos. They were fairly busy. The US agents were great. Asked if I had any alcohol in my cooler. Told him yeah, that I'd forgotten to drink it while at Hope. I asked him if I should pour it out. He said "If it were me I'd go just up the road and pour it down my throat. Welcome home". I crossed south coming from Regina into ND. They were a little busy. That was not so good. Had to clean out my bags. Second degree. Questioned by 2 agents seperately inside. The Canadian guy behind us got to go right through. That's the only shake down I've had. Crossed north from Glacier to Waterton. Really nice cute female Canadian agent. We shot the #$%* for a few minutes and was reminded to put my helmet on and have a great trip. I coulda taken anything through. Crossed from Port Angeles to Victoria and did the thing in Victoria. fairly busy when the ferry unloads. Not bad. More professional than personal. No problems, no hassles.

for some reason I could not get on the website all week. When I googled the forums I got right on.wierd.I am in the process of putting pushpins on a map with all of us in the Pacific northwest, then I can  begin to plot out ideas and routes.I have toured a lot on motorcycles, just not too much out here.Maps tell you one thing, but the reality of the road is a whole nother story. Also,I am old school,I do not have a blackberry, just a regular old cell phone I have had for 6 years,it still works so why buy a new one for fashion.I can text, but I dont have wireless. That may change by the time this event happens though.call me old fashioned, but all this technology doesnt make life any better or worse, just more crap to spend my hard earned dollars on.

Thanks for putting my name down as a wannabe rider. I will have to get my bike back together and running good and smooth before I can commit.

Bikerbart, just a suggestion but make sure the ride goes HWY 20! Any section. No better scenery our state. Ciao fer now.

Heh..I was thinkin of the Stevens pass/Wenatchee route but that Hwy20 looks pretty awesome on Mapquest...
its amazing!!! 8) Hwy 20, that is.
Hwy 2 is probably the most dangerous in the state.  A 1-laner pretty much until you hit Wenatchee.
Too many RV's and trucks and small cars trying to pass at any cost.
But the 10+ miles of twisties in Tumwater Canyon along the Wenatchee River as you enter Leavenworth is a sweet little section ;)

Just throwing my $0.02 in but I would go from Portland up hwy 101 to Pt Townsend then jump on the ferry to anacortes /mt vernon. Then east over 20. You will catch everything our gorgeous state has to offer. Untouched ocean beaches, temperate rain forest, old town pt townsend, ferry ride across puget sound and views of the islands and mt baker, mountain hwy through the north cascades, and winthrop through the okanogan. No sense hurrying through our state there is so much to see.

After reading some of the latest posts regarding the pacific NW Region, I'm confused about the route.  Is the rally actually entering and leaving BC several times?
Where do i get a map of the proposed route?

Hey Greg,

I initially "penciled in" the map in an effort to cover all states and provinces. From there it is up to the riders in each region to determine where their routing will lead them as long as they keep the Relay going. With that being said, BikerBart has recently volunteered to be the Regional Coordinator to help bring all you guys together and help you guys determine your route. Your Region has been lacking some necessary riders to cover some difficult to fill areas but that seems to be falling in place. It's hard to define a route without riders. My initial mapping had "IT" crossing into AB from SK then down through Waterton to Glacier. Close to BC but not quite into BC at that point. I've always envisioned one crossing into BC, from WA at Osoyoos then covering some territory before heading to Vancouver. I believe Derek aka Seaweb is planning an event at his place on Gabriola as perhaps the final stop of the Rally (unless someone wants to head to AK  ;D

With all that background I'm hoping that helps clarify the situation for you somewhat anyway. I had to initially start the PNW thread since no one volunteered to be Coordinator and now that BikerBart is onboard I'm just monitoring this region just as I do all the others so I can stay on top of everything. You guys from Team Pacific Northwest will be working together with BikerBart to develop whatever route you can make happen. The Rally is a very dynamic process that is developing and changing all the time and you guys have the most time of anyone to bring more riders on board and have your route evolve. It's the riders' Region and ride so whatever you guys can work out between yourselves will be the plan. BikerBart will help facilitate the fun  ;)

Please shoot me a PM if I can help with anything Rally related or otherwise.

Rather than go from Osoyoos to Vancouver along the Crows Nest, why not take it north and hit Kamploops and Kelowna, then Lilooet and Whistler.  I think Duffy would like to meet Godzilla, don't you!?  If there's not enough interior BC riders, why don't us Vancouver folk all ride together, with the final destination as Seaweb's place on the island? Perhaps camp at the free Spence's Bridge spot, alongside the trains (my favorite spot).

Greg,
i think the rough plan now, but check with bikerbart, is for it to come up I-5 from Portland to (depends on riders) Seattle, Everett or Mount Vernon areas, then head east, probably over 20, but hwy 2 is an option (again, depends on riders)  once riders hit 97, they'll take it north across the border and onto the BC area riders, with a few lower 48'ers in tow i imagine....BC riders can take over from there and eventually get to Seawebs place.
For the N WA riders, coming down to Mt Vernon, and joining in the trek east and north into BC might be a cool loop.
BUT, get a hold of BikerBart...hes the guy....i'm just a soldier in the SOHC4 army.  8)
