What is the coolest deal you ever got on eBay?
« on: April 29, 2005, 12:39:04 PM »
.
Got talking about this on another thread... what is the best deal you ever got on eBay?

Mine was a complete set of engine gaskets for my 350/4... only 99 cents  (usually $30+), with cheap shipping!  ;D
Second best was a pair of good condition front forks for a 1989 CBR600F1... only $20 (usually go for $100+/pair)!!  8)

How about you?  ???

I got a complete center stand assembly for my 750 (stand, pivot pipe, spring and anchor) for $1.00! Cost more to ship than buy...

Hi, my name's Terry, and I'm an Ebay addict. I've had over 300 transactions in 5 years, so here's just a few:

New 836cc "Action Fours" big bore kit, still in the plastic for 39 bucks, (thats right, 39 bucks)
Several front fenders for CB750's for under 10 bucks, one recently for 99 cents
10 air fork kits form one seller for 25 bucks, I resold most of them for 25 bucks each pair,
two pairs of magura levers for 20 bucks a pair, I kept one pair and sold the other for 80 bucks,
a NOS Derale oil cooler kit for a SOHC4, bought it for 80 bucks and sold it for 210, and
2 pairs of Marzocchi shockers 2 weeks ago for 41 bucks!

I also won and paid for a NOS Martek electronic ignition for 15 bucks, from a turkey in the US, but "surprise surprise" it seems it  got "lost" in the mail? Hmmnn............... Oh well, win some, lose some etc. Cheers, Terry. 8)

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The coolest deal I ever got on Ebay is this:  set of Morris mags with dual drilled rotors, rear tubular swingarm, and rear disc conversion with master cyclinder for $60.   I also recently bought a titled CB750 with a new Dyna S kit installed for $182.00.

Never had a coolest yet! I just get people selling parts for bikes that dont fit! Happened with footpegs and fairing mount.  It is hard to tell just by loking at pictures. These people should know more about what they are selling.

I just picked up a set of "Telefix" multi adjustable clip on's with replaceable bars for 16 English "Squid" for my racer project, and the Marzocchi shocks just arrived, geez, you gotta love Ebay! All I need now is some rearset pegs, but I might just make my own. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I got a NOS Brown vinyl seat for my 1976 CB550F for $50 + $25 shipping to Canada  ;D  It was still in the plastic and Honda box.

I also got a set of Kevlar Barnett clutch plates for a CB500 for $1 a while back.  Never installed them - must still be around somewhere!

Well it's not SOHC, although I have gotten some great buys for my K5750, but I picked up the crankcases, side engine covers and a NOS front sprocket for a a '74 Suzuki TS250 dirt bike (my son's) for $2 plus $7 shipping. I don't think the seller made any money on the deal, but he did deliver.....

I got a complete front wheel for my 550 with mounted double discs, speedo drive and two calipers for something like 30 Euros, in my hometown, so no shipping fees.

A perfect plug-and-play thingy! ;D

I just found a 69 recessed ignition for $17.50.....  $20.00 after shiping.  I'm about 98 percent sure it's a recessed anyways.  I have been scrounging for one for a while now.  I found one nice one but it has an H key code and a platic housing instead of yellow metal.  I have another T code one that is really beat up.  When I get this new one I hope it's nice.  I'll be abble to sell the other two at a proffit.

Modified.....  5/19/05.  It's a recessed alright.  Had a restored circuit board and plug end waiting for it.  It took me 20 min to restore it and stick it on the chassis.  Now to find a steering lock that can be re-keyed with it.

I won yesterday the auction on the gas tank cap and the thumb latch for 36 bucks. It's from a CB350 but I'm confident it will fit my CB750. It will go to replace my broken thumb latch. In my opinion it is a good deal, as the new Honda key latch costed me 36 bucks, and this time I'm getting a spare cap too. I'll see when I get it what means for the seller "perfect condition".

I just made over $400.00 bucks on some auctions for my Bomber parts.  I'll be abble to afford a Joe R. jacket and have my rims re-chromed.  The total for all 10 auctions quadrupled in the last 18 min.  Oh yea!!!

I can't wait to get the postage rate for a guy in Japan that won 4 auctions.  I don't think He'll go into shock though.... He paid enough for the parts to be serious.

These seemed nice  ;D - bought the two he had listed at $10 each.

Service Honda wants $21 for the cup and $9 for the cushion, so this is 1/3 their price.  Good deal in my books, especially x 2 :D

For $400 a 1976 cb550 engine (with ZERO miles on it!)...
so it wasn't particularly cheap, but the thing had *never* been ridden,
just stored in heated basements for 29 years.

Are ya gonna be abble to match the side covers to that tank?  Might have to go with flat black on the side covers so as not to end up with a mis-match.

;) No worries!  I have a NOS right side on order from Western Hills Honda (they have 7 NOS Sunrise Orange right sidecovers in stock - go figure  ::)).  It cost me US$100 (yep, for ONE sidecover) but it's worth it to complete the set.

Total cost of the set is about $200 US landed cost.  I'll sell my existing set for about $100 or so.

The incremental $100 cost is a LOT less than new paint, and it's all original.

Just picked up a set of K2 gauges for 21.50 from a guy in San Jose. I might need to replace the faded faces, but they both work ok apparently, and aren't all dinged up like mine, so I reckon they're bargain! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Just picked this up for $30 - cheaper than rebuilding and refinishing mine, especially once I sell mine.  It's been refinished using Eastwood caliper paint.  While it looks more glossy than original, mine looks like it's been sitting in the ocean for 2 years (but it works great).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4554109845

I thought for 3 minutes too long about the corresponding $40 rebuilt master cylinder.  Mine works just fine, but it looked like this one still had the dark finish.  Ah well.

I got a van load of 750 (K2 + F1) parts, 2 frames, 3 engines (in parts), 4 sets of compleet carbs,6 pairs of wheels and enough bits to make up 3 bikes (if I find another frame) and still loads more ....all for £300. Should keep me busy for a few years.
The guy I baught it all from claimed to be 'cured' of his SOHC obsesion, and is now into C50+90's.
