Where are you? The furthest SE in TX on the current route is Austin. The route is not set in stone, but a major detour may require an additional day for TX, which will throw off all the following riders. It's worth talking about. How far west do you care to ride?

I know I talked pretty tough early on, but I just cannot make the stars align for this ride.  Sorry; good luck; I'm super-bummed about it.  Not gonna hand you a pile of excuses.

Bummer man!  Honestly though, I bet we see more people dropping out as the ride dates approach. Just a fact of life and being adults with other #$%* to do.  HOPEFULLY we have enough riders that it won't make too much of an impact on the route/schedule/outcome

Just curious if the transition is going to happen as laid out or if "wrinkles" are developing.

Who's carrying the lizard from Roswell to Duncan?

If you guys get it on time, then is the hand-off on the 24th to the AZ team still on track?
Is a day from Roswell to Duncan do-able for the riders designated to handle that leg?

The original plan was for Greg (gregimotis) and Justin from Lubbock to meet up in/near Roswell, then proceed to Las Cruces, layover for the night, then meet up with you and Shawn in Duncan. Since then, Greg (hesselfuzz), who is also in Santa Fe, has joined up. Worst-case scenario is I will haul my bike to NM, ride from NM to Duncan, then haul my bike back home, leap-frogging you guys. Yeah, it's a wrinkle, but wrinkles can be ironed out.

No worries Scottly...I just wasn't up to speed on who's doing what in the OK, TX, NM leg. The AZ, CA, NV had ID'd the carrier for each leg and who was riding each leg. I didn't easily gleen that information out from your OK, TX, NM thread.

That leap frogging can make you old and gray in a hurry...  Hopefully it won't come to that...

Howdy from Houston!!  I'm checking in, signing on and want to ride.  If the route bends far enough south (I-10?), I can likely get a handful (or more) of other local SOHC'ers involved.  If it's all Austin and DFW, I'll still make it!

And I'd like to affirm that the Hill Country riding (outside of Austin, Fredericksburg, Lukenbach, etc) is superb! 

My '75 CB750 will be ready to go and maybe I'll even have one of my CB350's on the road by then.

Can someone post a map showing the current plan for the Texas legs / routes?

Howdy from Houston!!  I'm checking in, signing on and want to ride.  If the route bends far enough south (I-10?), I can likely get a handful (or more) of other local SOHC'ers involved.  If it's all Austin and DFW, I'll still make it!

And I'd like to affirm that the Hill Country riding (outside of Austin, Fredericksburg, Lukenbach, etc) is superb!  

My '75 CB750 will be ready to go and maybe I'll even have one of my CB350's on the road by then.

After getting the ralley to come to Austin, another member was given access to make the route so there wont be much "superb" hillcountry riding nor will it even come into Austin. Hill country riding was offered up by a couple of us but was ignored by said mapper. I guess there is enough of us that still want some hill country in the itenerary that we could just take the "superb" route on our own and let those that want to ride the highways do so. There is a map posted on page 1 of this thread.

+2 on seeing the bike in person.

Welcome architect! The route through TX is still evolving; it's up to you guys to decide what roads you ride. The goal is to get Godzilla to Lubbock by the end of the day 4-22, and enjoy the ride while getting there!

DYSKORD, feel free to post a map of your own proposed route. The map that was originally posted was meant as a starting point, to be modified as details emerge. Now that we have riders coming from Houston, we have to factor that in. The route is open, however the schedule is important, as it affects ALL following riders. If we need to add extra time for TX, now is the time to speak up.

Maybe some of us can toss up some proposed routes/maps and then it can get united based on feedback, routing logistics, etc.  I'd be glad to take a stab at tossing some ideas out there and using some suggestions we've been seeing, all while using the existing route as a go-by.

Here is what has been discussed for the Austin area:

Coyote brings "IT" down rom Dallas to Burnett [about 1 hour NW of Austin} Then some of us Austin guys hook up with him there and continue on to the Lake Travis area. I have proposed camping on Lake Travis.

Then on to Marble Falls [on RR1431 - a great road in the Hill country] Johnson City, Fredericksberg [cool German Biergartens] and Llano [Coopers BBQ].

This is where I probably will depart, and we do not have a rider to take "IT" to Lubbock.

I didn't ignore anyone.  I asked in multiple posts if anyone wanted to contribute to the map,  One person spoke up.  I game him access to the map.  Why didn't you speak up? 

If you PM me an email address,  I can invite you to edit the map.  I do not know the Austin area well, so your input is most welcome.

I work in Finance and it's tax season, so I have been a little busy.  Feel free to go on google maps and create your own f'n map for the state. 

I have been working like 6 or 7 days a week for a while and I don't even know if I can get either my CB's ready in time, so I am sorry if my real life has gotten in the way of my online hobby. 

So, again, if someone from Austin would like to have access to the map, PM me and include your email address and I will invite you.  You will have to have a google login linked to that email to edit the map.
