Nik --  That's still the plan right now.  Please do join the ride!  We'd love to have another aboard.

Hey guys, I'm late to the party on this but I'm in Austin and would love to meet up for lunch on Wednesday and help escort you out of town. My '73 CB500 is only mechanically approved for a couple hundred miles in a day so I'll ride out into the Hill Country with you but that's about as far as I can go.

Next year I'll Pony Express that sucker to Sante Fe if you need me to.

Still thinking noonish at the food trailers on S. Congress?

I had actually backed out of the rally a while back (that's why I had stopped posting in this thread) so I had made no plans around work and kids.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Checking in on my dinner break.  Did Joe make it for the pick-up?  The suspense is killing me!

Edit:  Well, gotta get back to work, and I won't be able to check back until around 11.  Hope it worked out!

Then you will all be happy to know that after a near 250 mile round trip, Godzilla is home with me.    8)

I would post pics, but my cell died before I got home.   Pics tomorrow before I head out.

So whats the deal, I am I going to Houston by myself?  That is going to be one long ass boring ride if I have to do it alone.

Stev-O  --  Those Lago Vista photos look amazing, so it their ammenities are preferable to the primitive site you mentioned, maybe it would be a good fit.  If there's electricity and water, I'm sure folks would appreciate the civility :-)  Look at me, all wishy-washy!  Do you still have those sites reserved?

I know of another County park, it is right on Lake Travis, a bit out of the way but primitive (no showers, electric, etc). This may suit us better:

http://www.co.travis.tx.us/tnr/parks/arkansas_bend.asp

Yes, I still have the campsites w/amenties reserved for Wed night in Lago Vista.

We will award CBGhia with the "Ironman" award if he pulls this one off!

Oh, rest assured, I am pulling this offI   If any of you Houston guys want to ride up to meet me part way, just PM me with your cell number so that I can text/ call you from the road.   A PM will give me an email notification and that is easier than checking here.

Looking forward to camping.

Coke and taxi, It was really nice to meet you guys! Thanks for waiting for me at the welcome center.

Coke had to put some serious miles in as well.  The relay man from LA broke down and he had to ride down to LA, then back to AR then through OK and down to Denison.

Alright Coke and Ghia!  Way to pull it off!!!   Thank you both for going so far out of your way to keep this thing going. :)

I couldn't wait any longer to find out what happened, so I busted my ass and got out of work 20 min early.  Joe, hopefully somebody from the Houston area will be able to at least meet you halfway tomorrow, especially since you just rode an extra 250 miles to make sure Godzilla gets down there.

Congrats to Ghia, great to meet you at the welcome center.  have a great trip to Houston.  Taxi and I trailered our bikes back to Van Buren and Taxi is heading home to Tulsa.  It was a great day even if we did miss some roads we wanted to ride (my poor map skills)

Wish I could have taken the week off and gone through TX with you guys.. maybe some time in the future when I am retired me and the little 350 will make the whole trip.

have fun with Godzilla

Okay, so Godzilla is on his way to Houston!

When someone gets a chance, could you please post the route you'll be taking to Austin?  If I get on the road early enough tomorrow I may try to catch up with the group somewhere along the way rather than in town.

Time for another roll-call. Who is going as far as Big Spring and west? Are we going to be able to get Godzilla across west Texas?

From what I can tell CBGhia is the only one who has said he may be able to ride to Big Spring.  I might be able to go as far as Brady, but no further.

Well crap. I just got an email telling me I have a job interview tomorrow afternoon so I won't be able to escort you boys out of Austin. So instead, I'm gonna try to head out somewhat early and meet y'all on your way up from Houston and ride back to Austin. You guys taking I-10, US-290 or TX-71 up?
If it were me, I'd vote for 71. It's pretty scenic and I think it's also the shortest route.
Any idea how I'll find you other than waiting at a roadside gas station 'til I see Godizalla ride by?
